Hooray for getting a KG reply and lol:

Kevin Goldstein @Kevin_Goldstein

I'm so screwed. RT @breid4: @Kevin_Goldstein Wanna get your "What do you think of Starling Peralta" tweet done early?

And therein lies the problem with Twitter KG: He answered THAT, instead of actually giving an opinion on Peralta.

TOUCH, not sit. Secondary stuff uninspiring. RT @Jeffster130: @Kevin_Goldstein But wait... Doesn't Peralta's fb velo sit in the mid 90s?

And KG proves me somewhat wrong......I wonder in what order Peralta, Rosario, and Arias are thought of, inside scouting circles? My guess is Arias is last, but it's probably mixed on the other two.

well his employer is a site that depends on subscriptions to make money. if he just gives his information/opinion for free to anyone who asks, nobody is going to pay to read what he writes on BP.

Peoria Chiefs @peoriachiefs

Peralta starts the 7th with 11K. The stadium record is 12. Set by Rich Hill 7/08/05 and matched by Kerry Wood 05/07/06.

And the record! #13. Though, it's kind of unfair that those poor A-ball kids had to face Kerry in 2006. His was in 5 innings, FWIW.

And that outing is why Peralta is my personal cheeseball (and toonster's too?).

Also, lost in Starling Peralta's monster game in Peoria, Zeke DeVoss was 4/4 today with 2 doubles and a triple.

Haven't seen a lot about Marra. At least one catcher in our system is hitting well.

Admittedly I saw him for just one game (afterwards he was sent back to Mesa), but Marra looked good. Both behind the plate and at the plate. I thought that he was a better prospect then Contreras.

He's probably a better prospect than Contreras (close), but Contreras has spent a few years in the system. Contreras might have a tick better upside defensively, and since he had been in the system longer, getting him up to Boise and getting Marra work in Arizona made sense.

I do like him quite a bit, but KG is correct - a long way to go before Peralta is anything that really demands a ton of attention. Now, I get the feeling that KG's working with some older reports (that said ... he has seen Peoria a fair amount this year, since he supposedly went to see Baez a few times), as there seem to be some reports that Peralta's secondary stuff is ... developing (although to be fair, uninspiring doesn't mean that it isn't developing).

I mean, in a system with more pitching, Peralta would be a nice low level raw piece, not someone to get too excited about. For us? Any sort of "live" arm with potential that shows decently well is worth getting excited about for now. Here's hoping it isn't that way in a few years.

I guess part of the reason I'm excited about Peralta is because the last wave of semi-intriguing Latin American arms have all largely fizzled out. He also has better potential than Rosario as a starter.
