Nice McNutt, Concepcion, and Wells being out there gives us something to talk about today.

Anyone have velocity readings on McNutt this year? Hopefully he doesn't give up any hits, walks, or HRs today while picking up plenty of K's?

What happened to Dillon Maples? I think I missed or have forgotten what's going on with him.

Injured down in Mesa.

Pugliese has done pretty well.

If you don't consider 2012 draftees and assume Whitenack rehabs at a higher level (I would like to see Peralta at a higher level too but it's starting to get late for that), I think you see this rotation at Boise:

Peralta, Pugliese, Scott, Arias, Dickson and/or Kim.

Damn was hoping for more K's from Scott, but I realize he's someone with a lot of room to develop. He's got the potential to have a good curve and changeup but they were baby pitches when he was drafted. Purely an upside pick with his athleticism, youth, and size.

I don't know what to make of Dunston Jr. That's not a bad line but I want more! No clue what to make of his upside, his tools, his athleticism....he's athletic but it's not WOW. Maybe his speed was but can't remember. Looking at all the numbers it's promising (6 BB/10 K's).

Good to see Candelario and Baez putting up the best two lines, as expected. Vogelbach bombed, Amaya is patient, and who is Encarnacion?

There were a few Lofton comps thrown out on Dunston last year. But he's really raw. I'm very encouraged by his numbers. He's supposedly a great makeup guy too, for what it's worth.

I expect great makeup considering his dad, but does he have Lofton's speed? Lofton is a pretty...lofty...ceiling, but he also seems like he can grow to be bigger.

He's definitely raw but there's some polish in his EXST numbers, not that those should be taken too seriously. Definitely a player I'll keep my eye on.

To anyone who was dying to know, Blake Lalli's replacement in Iowa is a 33 year old journeyman by the name of Brian Esposito who's the proud owner of a .216/.254/.304 slash line in 12 minor league seasons between 6 organizations. As a great man once said, "Where do they find them, and why do they keep sending them to me"?

Every time....The good: Got groundballs, didn't get hit around...The bad: 1 K, 5 IP (again), 2 unearned runs, 3 total runs.

Is he on a pitch count? Nothing on velocity still?

Brett with a double and three more Ks. This is getting crazy.

Two were called strike 3s.

Keep hearing that he might be over-thinking things at the plate (along the lines of wanting to impress the new bosses), but that could also be excuse-making for a poor stretch. Even I have a hard time defending Brett's K's these days.

I had heard 94 numbers from a start earlier in the year. But I'm not sure if he's touching that or hitting on a semi-regular basis.

I assume he is still on a pitch count, or some sort of innings limit.

To be fair, I don't think the organization really planned for so many guys to be moved around. With all the injuries/call-ups, at some point, you don't want to rush your guys, even if they are average talents like Brenly and Flores (although I still mildly hold out some hope on Flores being intriguing) and getting a stopgap veteran to work with the staff is fine. It's the minors. If Esposito is in the majors ... well ... I'd be disappointed. Granted, Koyie Hill is in the bigs, but I imagine part of the reason they brought him back was because of his familiarity with some of the arms here, making him a useful stopgap compared to giving a pie-in-the-sky shot to someone like Esposito.

I am really not a fan of Wells as the piggyback arm. I liked the Wells/Burke pairing because Wells started and worked 4-5, but it gave Burke enough innings to see if he could be a starter. I want to see the big boy get some more innings, struggle, have to adjust, have to learn. Now, he's limited to, more often than not, 4 innings, which means opponents might not get through the lineup twice unless Wells is struggling bad.

I understand Concepcion is the big money, our name is on the line arm, but I really hope that they end up at least flipping these guys around once in awhile. Granted, we're nearing midseason, so if a call-up to Daytona happens, that may open a spot for Wells again. I am hoping he can get in 100-110 or so innings this year.

Unless he's injured, don't forget about Willengton Cruz, who got demoted. He could be a factor there. That said, if a call-up to Daytona happens at some point, I could see Cruz get sent back to Peoria.

I did forget about him, good call. I'd rather see Peralta go to Peoria at this point over Cruz.

Yeah, he is still on a limit as he comes back from the blister problem - he got 66 in his last start which was also 5 innings.
