Would Shark have been given a chance to start this year, if we still had Hendry around?

 

Yes, it was discussed all of last year actually. You don't just decide to make a guy a starter like that if you buy the talent. He's been building towards this for years. If you look at Shark year by year his mechanics changed a little each one. He's still probably amongst the most athletic players in the organization, so he's adapted extremely well and stayed healthy.

 

Not to be a Hendry apologist or anything, but he didn't leave a complete dump here. The contracts are gone in a couple years, the farm system isn't barren, and many employees are still there. He was mostly just a bad GM who couldn't keep his aces healthy and didnt chase Carlos Beltran.
