I never expected Parise and didn't really want Suter for what he wound up costing in terms of years. I'm excited about the draft as I think they got a real steal in the 1st round. All they need to do now is replace one goalie on the current roster and it's pretty hard to argue that they're not the best team in their division. It would be more reassuring if they got another 2 way forward but as long as Hossa returns they've already got a very good top 6 if Saad is ready.

Some things to consider:

Stalberg is playing for a new contract and took a big step last season.

Leddy should only get better.

If they keep Monty and Hjammer, they have better depth on the blue line and Q won't have to ride Marlboro 72 into the ground for 29 minutes a night.

If Crawford rebounds from his sophomore slump enough to be even league average, this teams wins the central.

Yeah, I don't see what's so wrong about Bobby Lu. I agree the D in front of him still needs help, but he's clearly a large step up from Crawford. At least until he falls apart in a big game and then he becomes Crawford. But I'll take it.

yea, you'll love him during the regular season... then the playoffs will start and it will be like "oh yea, now i remember"

i can't believe we're having this conversation. i'm disappointed.

Why would a goalie who keeps getting benched in the middle of the playoffs every year make us Cup favorites?

Last year he was benched after 2 playoff games and sat the last 3. The year before he was benched for game 6 of the 1st round against Chicago after getting yanked in the 2nd period the prior 2 games. Then he was yanked early in 2 Stanley Cup Final games including game 6 where he was yanked 8 minutes into the game. There was a big debate whether he would even start game 7 of the Finals.

Don't get me wrong he's a great goaltender in the regular season but he consistently fails to perform like one of the best goaltenders in the NHL when it counts in the postseason. I don't think it's the best use of our resources at all.

the canucks have been the biggest joke in the nhl for the last few years. luongo is like the face of that. why would we want to relieve them of him? we laugh at the canucks every year, and luongo specifically. now we want him?

oh so we're just going to ignore his past history and act like it means nothing? we're just going to hope it's different when he comes at 33? remember when tim thomas was liviing inside luongo's head in the finals? yea, that's the guy i want to blow our remaining cap space on for the next 5 years,

given his age, past history, and contract, i would have no interest whatsoever.
