apparently the Knicks offered Stoudemire and Chandler for Howard and the Magic turned it down.

What exactly do they think they can get for Dwight?

Wow two near 30 year old big men, one with surgically repaired knees. How stupid the Magic are for turning that down!

They're not gonna get much more for a few months of Dwight Howard. Plus everyone said that CP3 should be traded for a worse package to the Lakers.

I wasn't saying it was a good or bad offer. Just putting out info

I know. That was just my comment on the offer.

Andrew Bynum combined is a more valuable piece than those 2 combined. Heck, Noah might even be, although that's debatable.

I disagree. Plus Bynum wasn't in that trade offer for Chris Paul. There just isnt gonna be many teams that can or will give up a lot to get a couple month of a guy.

Amare has negative value to a non contending team--one dimensional player with a bad contract and terrible knees.

Orlando is not that team though.

What does Chris Paul have to do with this? Explain to me how Amare is a more valuable trade piece than Andrew Bynum.

What? They're not contenders WITH Howard. They trade him and they're in retool mode if not full out rebuild mode.

Amare is a terrible, terrible "asset" for any team that isn't on the cusp.

And I don't know if you've noticed but Amare has been pretty dreadful this year.

That tends to happen when you are a 30 year old big man with bad knees and contract security.

So wait, Dwight is actually open to Chicago now!?

There are so many things I could say here, but all of them would be terribly inappropriate and bad.

With what we'd have to give up for Dwight, I'd probably rather get involved in the deal as a 3rd party and try and get Pau from LA. We send Deng to LA, Taj and picks to Orlando, La sends us Pau and gets Dwight, Orlando gets Bynum and picks from LA too. Yeah, it gives us a logjam at the 4 and 5, but it gives us a nice advantage over the Heat for this year. We'd need to find a starting 3 somewhere, but it could be done, especially if Asik is dealt. After the season's over, try and trade Boozer, if it can't be done, he's an amnesty candidate.

So you'd trade Deng, Taj and picks for Pau Gasol? I'm not sure what your motive is for that.

the quotes make it sound like dwight is saying "i still don't want to be in chicago long-term, but i'll play with them through the rest of this season just to get out of orlando immediately".

i don't think the quotes mean much

For me, it's about getting past Miami and I just don't think we've got an answer for Bosh. We're never going to have an answer for Lebron anyway, so I'm willing to concede Lebron dominating us, but Pau plays extremely well against Bosh and would be a legit second scorer for us. He's excellent defensively and he's probably the best passing big guy in the NBA. There's 96 minutes at 4/5, so you could go 36 with Pau and give Noah and Boozer about 30 each. Like I said, I'd trade Asik for a 3 at that point as well and if we have to sign someone to replace him, I'd go with Sheed(assuming he's in shape). It'd give us Noah, Pau, Boozer, and Sheed up front, with 3 being open to whatever we trade for and Korver as the backup, Hamilton and Brewer at the 2(maybe JR as well, if rumors are true) with Rose and CJ. I like that. Maybe Deng and Taj is enough to get Pau, without giving up picks on our end, but I kind of doubt it.
