So in a year Trevor Cahill will be a ace and worth a king's ransom.

I mean last year's "OMG THEY OVERPAID FOR RANDY WELLS" was garza.

szj somehow brings the winning combination of not serious and not funny to literally every one of his posts.

also, trevor cahill has had a below-average ERA+ in two of his three mlb seasons. matt garza has been below average in one, average in another and above average in four. and, he strikes people out.

I don't think anyone ever compared Garza to Wells. The main comparison I remember was a RH Ted Lilly, though Lilly never really had Garzas stuff..

You must have missed the Garza trade thread last year.

From last year's thread:

Matt Garza? Arb eligible decent AL east pitcher whose peripherals look a little worse than his traditional numbers. Will they take Randy Wells for him to save money?

He and Gorzelanny have a lot of similarities, but we're aggressively shopping one and trying to acquire the other?

Wells and not much else.

Why on earth would we trade Wells for Garza?

There's a long history of blah with Garza as well and he doesn't have starting his career as a catcher to fall back on like Wells does.

Not a horrible deal, but considering how his peripherals stack up to Randy Wells, I can't say I'm enthused.

Can we not start the Wells/Garza comparisons again and just refer to the first 20 pages instead?

Garza has always had better stuff that Wells, but in fairness to all those comparisons Garza and Wells did stack up pretty well statistically before last season. Garza completely changed his pitch selection last season though, while Wells suffered through an injury-marred and ineffective campaign.
