McLeod looks like my boss, complete with the "yeah I might have done some coke" pseudo-smirk that is actually more a facial twitch.

Sounds like well be having alot more drafts like what the Cubs did in 2011, which doesn't shock me.

Can I say I love Tom Ricketts? More than Theo or any of these guys...Tom Ricketts is the guy who will "save" the Cubs.

Oh and the June amateur draft is gonna be nerdtastic next year.

It was nerdtastic this year, but yeah I'm excited to see what these guys do. The Red Sox are usually the 2nd draft I check after the Cubs. Hopefully they find us some more hard throwing SP prospects.

I think it will be relatively easy to figure out who we take in some rounds. Just look for the best tough sign guy out there, we'll be taking that guy, more often than not. Of course, I'll give us credit, we did it this past season as well. My honest guess is more teams will start going towards this model though, making it harder to restock the system so quickly. But, I could see us making HUGE splashes on July 2nd as well. Even bigger than what we did this past one, which was great in it's own right.

I still can't believe that this is our front office.

I still can't believe that this is our front office.

Man, I've already posted that once or twice, since this has all happened and I still can't believe it either. I would have been thrilled with any ONE of these 3. And we got them all. Best offseason ever, no matter who we sign.

Lots of non-commital, positive stuff about Cespedes.

Left field is not an option for Rizzo.

He's been working with the scouts to tell them the kinds of things the Cubs want them to look for. He and Theo spent some time last week scouting the amateur draft via video.

Months later, this quote still applies for me.

I think it will hit me during the season when the team is surprisingly good on the field and everyone's all "zomg the Cubs are gonna be blah blah blah before you know it!"

you are going to be pretty behind the curve if it doesn't hit you that this is our front office until 2014

How behind are we talking? What's happening in 2014? Are they leaving? What's to even be behind about?

IF ONLY THEY'D SIGNED PLAYERS THAT DIDN'T WANT TO SIGN WITH THE CUBS

it's so weird to have such long-term optimism with the cubs. even in past years when they were good, it kind of felt like it wouldn't last. the closest was after we got maddux/lee/hawkins/walker etc during the 04 offseason, but even then it kind of felt like we missed our shot in 03.

Even in the best of recent times it was pretty clear Hendry was just flying by the seat of his pants. Having a sound organizational direction and philosophy is an absolute revelation.
