Looks like we need someone to get on in the bottom of the 8th for Castro to get one more plate appearance. If that happens I expect to see the Brewers IBB or pitch around him.

When theyre down 7-1? What would be the point in that other than just being spiteful pricks?

HAH! Quade pinch hit for his #4 hitter with runners in scoring position - brought in DeWitt to pinch hit for Baker against a righty. He promptly hit into a DP. Unless Baker is hurt this was a terrible move. You won't be missed Quade.

It's the last week in a meaningless season. Baker's only the #4 hitter because of all the call-ups playing today, so why not bring in DeWitt for an AB or two?

I am apparently the only person that sees humor in that switch. I'll leave it alone.

103 pitches through 8 for Garza. I was kind of hoping he'd throw a few more that inning so Quade wouldn't for sure toss him out there for the 9th to get a meaningless complete game.

Good call.

Garza better not swing, so he doesn't ground into a dp.

No, please don't.

If I'm Garza, I don't even take the bat off my shoulder.

Also, why is Garza hitting, Quade?

Isn't this the last home game in a meaningless season?

Yes, so why have Garza throw 120 pitches? Grabow hasn't tossed batting practice in a while.

According to GameCenter, Castro saw one hittable pitch. Is anyone watching? If that is true I point to my earlier post saying they'll either IBB or pitch around him. Gutless brewers. Edited by BeerHere

You know Grabow pitched last night, eh?

I don't think the Brewers care at all that Castro is one hit shy of 200. Pitchers in general specifically try not to throw hittable pitches. In fact, throwing pitches outside the strike zone is, in general, a good way to get Castro out this year.

Not this month, though.

Yes, but he didn't even give up a run. That's hardly batting practice. Either him or whoever else they've got back at the end of the pen now. Berg, maybe?

They walked him twice today. I prefer to think the Brewers didn't want to see a Cubbie do something nice at home while they're on the field. It's not unheard of by any means.

I've never heard of a pitcher worried about giving up a player's 200th hit.

Never heard of a rival not wanting to give up a milestone? It's not a big deal and I only point it out because I know there are Brewer fans reading this right now.
