CUBS are 41-23 when they get a quality start.... 21-59 when they don't

CUBS are 22-18 when their starter pitches 6-1/3 innings or more.... 39-63 when he doesn't

Do we really need Woody back next year? I think we have enough to pull off a solid bullpen without him with Marmol, Marshall, Shark, Carpenter(when he's done drowning his sorrows in scotch while listening to the Smiths), Russell, Dolis, and Beliveau.

Considering Kerry's seemingly undying loyalty to the Cubs and the fact that coming back would cost us maybe another 1.5m, I don't see the hurt. We don't have to make him the 7th inning guy or whatever. As recently as last September he was a dominant 8th inning guy for a World Series contender, so its worth 1.5m to see which one is the real Kerry Wood at this point.

I really like the lean version of Randy Wells. That's a solid arm to have behind three better pitchers. The ball comes out really well when he's focused, and both control and command are excellent. He should carry this over into 2012 for everyones benefit.

He didn't even pitch that bad today either. The pitch to Bay sucked, but the previous two hits were soft floaters into right on pitches out of the zone.

Feel like Wells could be a solid #4 and maybe even a decent/mid-tier #3 if he keeps improving. His command the past 2 months or so has been superb.
