Nyjer Morgan's my guy. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.

Nyjer Morgan is a douchebag. He's one of several douchebags on their team. He also was one of the first people to introduce the lame "Beast Mode" thing (some will credit minor leaguer Eric Farris), which makes even veterans like Mark Kotsay look like a stupid douchebag when he does it after a meaningless single. Props to Craig Counsell for refusing to do it, although some would make the joke that he's never on base to actually perform the act.

Bottom line? The Brewers are douchebags.

Also, Morgan also has the 3rd highest WAR on a 1st place team 11 games away from clinching his division. You call him mediocre, I call him a big contributor to a division championship team.

He's a mediocre player having a nice year largely dependent on his defensive value. Nothing new for him. 5 years in MLB, 3 of them between 0.9 and 1.1 WAR and a couple goofy outliers. I hope the Brewers keep him around.

So do I. Because between Gomez and Morgan the Brewers will always have an elite defensive player in CF. And on a team like the Brewers who are terrible on defense it is really nice to know that at least one position they are above average.

Is Gomez really an elite level defender? He looked awful out there last night, hopefully that was just a one game deal, but he was bad.

Gomez is really good on defense, and he's got a great arm. He's also a quality base stealer, although he's a complete moron on the basepaths. Nyger Morgan, meanwhile, is not a good base stealer despite good speed and his baseball acumen is the worst of any player in the Majors.

Ok, I wasn't saying he wasn't. Just thought he looked bad last night. Turned a single into a triple. I do think that was his first game in a long time too though.

I will say that Gomez sometimes tries to make himself look even better on defense by doing sommersaults and other assorted hops on a catch in which he doesn't need to.

Man, I hate the Brewers way too much. I need to chill out.

I'm actually very curious to see what becomes of the Brewers in the next few years. When they lose Fielder after this year, that will be a huge hit. They no longer have the farm system they used to, or anywhere close. Between Greinke and Marcum, I think they'll be able to re-sign one of them. Corey Hart is also a free agent in the next few years, and he could be very expensive. Could they be in for an Astros like downturn in the next 3 years or so? I think that their best bet is that they try to trade Hart and one of Marcum or Greinke either mid next year, depending on where they are in the standings or the following offseason and re stock that farm system.

I know this will sound somewhat crazy, but I expect the Brewers to somehow find a way to resign Prince. That might mean trading a Corey Hart to fit him in the budget or it might be raising the payroll to $110 million. The team is drawing 3 million fans and I believe Prince is far more valuable than just as a player to the franchise.

I know what youre saying, but that still might not be the wisest thing for The Brewers. Its easy to look at their record and that they're 8.5 games in first place, but the fact is, while they are better than people gave them credit for, they still don't belong in the baseball elite, even with Fielder. Take away their improbable August, and they're likely neck and neck with The Cards, maybe 3.5 games up.

Its also easy to look at their star players and get excited for them for years to come, but like most big league teams, they have a lot of holes. A small market team investing that money in 4-5 players is asking for trouble long term, and their best bet would be to spread that money around. They have big holes at SS and 3B as well as the bullpen. Also, in the next 2 years, they'll need to rebuild their rotation. I think Wolf is gone after this year and Marcum and/or Greinke after next.

There's also the fact that a young star like Fielder, especially represented by Scott Boraa may simply prefer to move on to a bigger market. Just because Ryan Braun gave them a very team friendly deal doesn't mean that everyone will, especially Boras clients.

Joe Strauss (on ESPN St. Louis) said that Carpenter fired off the F-bomb first, but it was a build up of what had happened when Plushie was still with the Nats. I can't remember what exactly happened though, but apparently he did something again in spring training against the Cardinals. Then got traded to the Brewers because Riggleman couldn't stand his act anymore. Sometime this year with the Brewers, Plushie had to be restrained in the dugout (and I think kicked from the game) for being "hostile" towards Carpenter and swearing up a storm.

I think the double earlier in the game was the final straw for Carpenter. Once Plushie got to 2nd, he started cussing out Carpenter again.

The Brandon Phillips deal with the Cardinals is funny. Plushie is just a tired act.

This. Brandon Phillips has fun playing baseball. Nyjer Morgan thinks he's a badass and can't even decently execute a terribly contrived alter ego.

Oh, I mention his hockey days because he's built it into his bad boy persona. Like the fact that he played youth hockey makes him a badass when in reality he's a 5 foot 10 165 pound slap hitting center fielder. He's as bad ass as Omar Vizquel.

Not liking hockey getting thrown under the bus here. In fact as a general rule, hockey players are way tougher than they act, not the other way around.

Hockey didn't shape Morgan into what he is. In fact his act would be far more outlandish in that sport than baseball.

Yeah but Morgan started yelling as soon as he struck out so this is impossible I thought?

No, because he is a hockey player. Or something like that.

NPC was saying Morgan acts like a confrontational badass because he was a hockey player, as if it makes him tougher by default. And that it is funny because Morgan would almost certainly lose any fight he got into. It's really pretty clear where he was going with that.

And Morgan is a mouth, and not in an amusing way like Brandon Phillips. He's just a punk, more on the Pierzynski end of the spectrum.

Yeah he is. His UZR/150 is at 24.0 this year. And his career numbers in CF are are 15.4. He also has a WAR this year of 1.5 despite his batting being -4.8 lol. He can't hit his way out of a paper bag but his defense gives him good value. And like I mentioned earlier anyone who can play defense on the Brewers is valuable.

I have nothing against the Brewers and while he might be a tool, he's kind of funny at doing it. I enjoy the act.

Besides, would you really rather have the Cardinals win the division over the Brewers? Not a chance.

I want the Brewers to win the Central and I think Nyjer Morgan is an unfunny piece of [expletive]. The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

I personally don't care; I hate them all. Nyjer Morgan being on one team vs. another will never do anything to change that.
