Nothing exciting from anyone so far since Vitters' big game.

Given the way AFL teams have been hitting so far, I'm thrilled McNutt got three scoreless innings in. Strikeouts would have been nice, but I can live with a scoreless/hitless outing with a lot of ground balls.

True, I should have given that more credit. Usually a pitcher just keeping a low ERA in the AFL is an accomplishment.

In the very next game, Lake went 3/4 with a 2B, HR, and SB, and Carpenter hit 100 on the gun.

Lol OK so the game after Vitters' big game.

I like both of those players too...didn't notice Lake's game...Carpenter throwing hard doesn't surprise me though. He's got an awesome arm.

Forgive my ignorance, but how is this possible? Is a line out different from a fly out?

for one, I believe that infield pop ups don't generally get included in those categories.

Just got back from the game in Mesa. Junior Lake had a couple of base hits and stole a base. Vitters crushed an RBI double. Nice to see the guys hitting 3-4-5 in the lineup. Just out of curiosity what is the thinking on Lake? Can he play somewhere else?

He's got the tools to stick at SS, but unless he tightens up his defense a bit he probably profiles best at 3B.

Likewise, he's got all the necessary tools that his bat could play at 3B... but unless his plate discipline improves considerably he probably profiles best at SS.

@keithlaw: Trey Mcnutt 94-96 in first but struggling with location and with his changeup

@keithlaw: Saw him with less velo in March. Wasn't down all year. "@fivetoolmike: @keithlaw was McNutt's velocity down earlier this year?"

Great to hear about McNutt's velocity. He seems like a better candidate to remain a starter than Cashner, who might go the bullpen for a while before eventually going back to the rotation (maybe).

There needs to be more good Austin Reed showings. Any word on how guys like Schlect and Trey Martin look out there?
