I think that Quade wants to bring Baker's average back down to earth. That is the only reason I can think as to why he keeps hitting against righties.

It really is baffling. If Pena's going to start becoming useful it's going to be likely against mediocre righties like Galarraga first.

Quade sucks, I don't care what he did in 40 games last year when the Cubs were out of contention, and how enthusiastic he is

Yeah, and his pitcher "issues" were on full display then, too. But at least it's not Sandberg. They'd be locked with that albatross for God knows how long whereas at least with Quade if they keep sucking he's likely gone in the short run after next year.

Nice to see Marlon Byrd continue to swing at first pitch sinkers on the outside corner with runners on base. I don't understand why any decision maker with the Cubs thinks that Byrd is a good player. I know they don't want to rush Brett Jackson, but if the team doesn't start winning, there is no reason not to give the kid a try.

Wait, what? The guy is have a crappy start and has been hit too high in the lineup most of the games this season, but we don't need to start making things up. He's nothing special, but he's been a decent player for a few seasons now.

Actually, there's a very, very good reason.

Wow - those were hit real good. Big Z will really be swinging hard!

Hey Quade, you might want to move those two up in front of Baker and Byrd.

I have been extremely critical of Soriano in the past, but right now he is the only legitimate power threat in this lineup. Why must he continue to hit 7th???

His .260 OBP is a big reason why.

So, so nice to see Soto driving one deep. It would be big if he can really get going.

Soriano may not hit for average this year. But he has his batting stance back to the way it was when he was mashing the ball with the nationals its good to see.

If he hits .230 with 35 homers, I'll take it.

Yeah, I'll take the crappy average and uninspiring OBP so long as he's a serious power threat you can have lurking towards the end of the lineup.

Agreed. it seems like he has that exagerated lean over the plate that he hasnt had since he was plunked in the dome(head) in atlanta. But just looking at how he is swinging the bat now it really creates a great deal of leverage especially on those pitches low in the zone.
