This is my first season with mlbei, and I haven't lived in the Chicago area in 12 years - what impact will these various lousy channels have on the feed I'll be getting? When would I be better off going with the other team's broadcast?

that certainly depends on your tolerance for listening to terrible broadcasters, granted they're not all bad but a bunch of em are so bad that lower resolution is an acceptable trade off

WCIU? Ugh.

You don't enjoy watching Matt Garza give up 12 runs on the fuzzy channel?

He can't watch them at all tonight as is the case for many on the board. It's especially annoying to have a WCIU game after an off day.

This. Back to back days not watching games is annoying.

If it's not Rob Dibble, Mark Grace, or the Hawk-Stone combo, I'm willing to give most commentator crews a shot. I can handle Jim Palmer okay, so I figure I could handle most broadcast teams which aren't notoriously awful.

About the only time you get feeds from both teams competing in one game is when there are about 4 or less games that go on at the same time or overlap times. Which is good for those Cubs day games, but you will rarely, if ever, get feeds from both teams for night games since so many other games are taking place at the same time. Maybe a Monday night or a Thursday night when many teams are scheduled off that day.

You also don't get a choice of what broadcast you get. Sometimes a home game will be a broadcast of the visiting team. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of method to the madness, but that you get most of the games at all is the biggest of victories. I actually enjoy hearing other announcers, although if I had the choice, I'd still prefer Len and Bob for every Cub game. I can hear other announcers when I watch non Cub games.

I haven't spent a lot of time testing yet, but I get two SD and two HD feeds for nearly every game. I've been operating under the assumption that it's one broadcast per team, and so far that's been the case. The first listed game is for the road team, second is for the home team. I think tonight's will be the first WCIU game i will have seen.

And no matter what your belief on lineup structure is and how much/hot little it matters, it's kind of moot since no manager in baseball is going to bat soto in the 2-hole (pause)

That doesn't mean it's not where he should be, and that's all I'm arguing. Lineup structure, to me, matters only in that the best hitters are getting the most at-bats/seeing the best pitches. Other than that, don't care.

I guess different providers offer different things. Hmm. Actually, my cable company activates EI for me each year and then all of a sudden, all of the hockey games are available as well. Can't complain about free hockey.

I obviously understand and appreciate the significance of Jackie Robinson, but I still think it is stupid that everyone on the field wears #42.

I was really confused for a second when I turned it on and saw some guy running down the line in 42 and couldn't figure out who it was, then saw it was Starlin and got even more confused when I realized "42...wait."
