Halladay, Lackey, Victor Martinez, Markakis, Marcum, Starlin Castro, Papelbon is pretty solid.

that's a generous assessment. my rotation is decent but lackey is a bum. i don't have a single offensive player projected to be among the top 100 point scorers.

Truffle, a couple of things. No matter how you did the first week, you don't want to wave the white flag already. Give yourself a few weeks to see if your squad can turn it around (as bukie mentioned). Plus, while it might not be against the rules, it does feel ethically wrong to tank and toss up 0-point players.

Also, you probably don't want to just acquire minor league talent. Future draft picks and exempt players are far more valuable (imo) than all but the best minor leaguers. Good exempt players are the most valuable commodity in this league.

as much as i'd like people to trade me the jason heywards of the world, it's just not going to happen. my plan isn't to trade for guys like gary sanchez, who might be really awesome in 4 years. if i deal halladay it will be for guys who are already in the advanced minors and should be making an impact at the big league level by next season. plus i have a dearth of top talent on my team, while other people have excess talent, so this upcoming offseason i can probably just do what i did with halladay this offseason, trade some middling piece for an expensive keeper.

Not sure who else's roster you are gawking at, but I don't have an awe inspiring cast either, yet I managed over 400 points this week and was one of the top point scorers last year.

Geo Soto, Carlos Pena, Neil Walker, Stephen Drew (who didn't play this past week), Ian Stewart, Ellsbury, LaPorta, Ethier and Big Papi. That's my star studded cast, and a similar batch that played in the finals last year. Who on my team are you drooling over? Who's roster is so much more awesome than yours?

Yeah, I sort of played the game you are thinking about playing. I got my hands on Ian Stewart and Alex Gordon and a few other can't miss prospects and it didn't get me much. While Tim has been drooling over Justin Upton ever since he got his hands on him, he'll be out of exemptions by the time he starts producing the way everyone has been expecting him to produce.

The fun in this league is to try to put together the best fantasy team in the league. There is no textbook right way or wrong way, and luck plays a significant part of that. The fun in this league is to follow along with a team you have assembled yourself. Granted, it takes awhile to get to that stage with your team as you have inherited someone else's team, but if you are honestly expecting all stars at every position in a 16 team league, your goals are a bit lofty. You aren't competing in a league where no one knows what they are doing or that they are first time fantasy leaguers. It's a very tough league with tremendous knowledge of the minor leagues. It's a league you can be proud you won if you actually do win. Instead of fire sailing it, take the summer to determine who is worth keeping and who isn't.

And while you might place Halladay on the highest of pedestals, he's only valuable to someone until this year is over. Then he is a tremendous drag on their cap limit. There are hundreds of players with way more value than someone like Halladay in this league. The players who are already putting up solid numbers in the big leagues and have exemptions remaining.

There might be 3 or 4 teams willing to trade you one of those players for Halladay. And they will have to think they have a shot at winning it all. Otherwise, at the end of the year, those big name prospects will be on someone else's team now and Halladay will have to be dropped because he's costing more than 800 points towards the cap.

If the guys in the advanced minors are ready to make an impact at the big league level, I want them on my team way more than I want Halladay. Zero point talent is way better than 800 point talent.
