That was seriously as painful as it gets. I could have finished some of those looks the Hawks had and I havent picked up a hockey stick in 5 years. There was at least 6-7 just really good chances or open nets just waiting for the Hawks to put it in but they failed in all of them.

I suppose if you are going to end a losing streak that's how you want to do it. I thought they tied it at least 5 times.

Me too... I think I raised my hands in the air 2-3 times.

Definitely not a great night for the Blackhawks....besides their loss, Minnesota, previously in 9th, won handily in Colorado. Phoenix lost but got a point out of it. Nashville, who was tied with Minny, is tied at the 2nd intermission with SJ so they are in a position to potentially score some points. So our 5 point playoff cushion was eaten into a bit. Here is what things look like now pre-Nashville result:

                PTS GP
4. Chicago 80 67
5. Dallas 79 66
6. Phoenix 79 68
7. Calgary 79 68
8. Los Angeles 77 66
-----------------------
9. Minnesota 77 67
10.Anaheim 75 66
11.Nashville 75 66

So now just 3 points seperate the Hawks and no playoffs. I'm pretty confident they'll get in, but I'd love for it to be easier.

Tomorrow there are more big games. We have Los Angeles traveling to Detroit, Calgary playing in Dallas, and the Rangers facing Anaheim at the pond. The Hawks must get at least 1 point tomorrow to have any chance of staying in the 4th seed, as Calgary and Dallas are both 1 point behind.

Best case scenario:

Detroit over LA

Calgary over Dallas (because we have a game in hand over Calgary)

NY Rangers over Anaheim

Blackhawks over Lightning

                PTS GP
4. Chicago 82 68
5. Calgary 81 69
6. Dallas 79 67
7. Phoenix 79 68
8. Los Angeles 77 67
-----------------------
9. Minnesota 77 67
10.Anaheim 75 67
11.Nashville 75 67

Worst case scenario:

LA over Detroit

Dallas over Calgary (in OT)

Anaheim over NY Rangers

Lightning over Blackhawks

                PTS GP
4. Dallas 81 67
5. Chicago 80 68
6. Calgary 80 69
7. Los Angeles 79 67
8. Phoenix 79 68
-----------------------
9. Minnesota 77 67
10.Nashville 77 67
11.Anaheim 77 67

Drop to 5th, another team ties us, 2 teams 1 point behind, and 3 teams knocking on the door.

Yes, last night was frustrating, but I don't think it slows this team down at all. These are the types of losses they had last year. Totally dominated the majority of the game but were snakebit around the net. A lot of nights the Hawks win that game 7-3.

Trouble is, they dug themselves a hole and can't afford to give up any points right now. Tonight is a huge game.

He hasn't been as good, but tonight I think it's just a matter of playing a team with skill guys as good as our skill guys. Rare as that is.

This is why I was concerned after losing to Florida last night. Every time we've had a winning streak this year, we've quickly followed that with losing a few in a row.

The eight game winning streak was nice, but in a race this tight, it's not going to matter much if we lose three in a row immediately after the winning streak.

Once again, Keith is sleepwalking. I'm sure he's tired and maybe hurt, but we can't have him like this. Especially with Campbell out.

Interesting game so far. First off, I am really impressed with TB. I know their record was good, but I hadn't seem them play all year. They look solid. The Hawks are only down 1, but TB is controlling play, doing a good job of clogging up the neutral zone. I missed the 1st period but the Hawks really haven't had a lot of even decent chances since I started watching.

Hopefully we can luck our way into a couple of goals and then hold on, but fatigue is going to come into play if it hasnt already

Don't like how they are getting tossed around out there. Miss the Burish/Eager/Fraser line. But this is a good effort tonight overall.

Yeah these guys are bullies

Can both teams just agree to pass the puck around in the neutral zone for the rest of the 3rd and take the guaranteed point and play out the OT?
