Iowa knotted up 2-2 in the 3rd. Jay Jackson struggling with his control.

guyer hit a double and a homer in his last game of the year. he finished the season with a line of .344/.398/.588/.986 with 29 steals against just 3 CS. led the league in batting average by about 25 points, 5th in OBP, 1st in SLG and 1st in OPS (he and canzler are the only eligible players who finished with a SLG over .500 or an OPS over .900). fantastic year out of him.

iowa blew a 3 run lead and lost 7-6. jackson didn't pitch well (6.0 ip, 7 h, 4 er, 4 bb, 2 k, 1 hbp) but berg didn't help matters. chirinos was 3-4 with 2 doubles. i guess iowa will have a one game playoff with memphis now.

peoria won 9-4; robinson lopez pitched well (3 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 2 bb, 2 k)

Nope; Memphis gets the playoff spot because of a better record in head-to-head play against Iowa. Iowa's season is over. I expect the Cubs to make some call-ups tomorrow.

The Smokies make the playoff though, how is this Guyer's last game of the year? Did I miss something?

Chirinos, LaHair, Snyder, and Smith all deserve the call.

As for Guyer, as far as current big league players, any idea what his ceiling is?

He's not a current big league player, but I think a "realistic" ceiling for Guyer (as opposed to a "hit-the-lottery" ceiling) would be Eric Byrnes.

The Cubs 40 man roster is full I believe, the best they can probably do is add two spots by putting Grabow and Caridad on the 60 day DL.

how about guyer's career splits? .305/.366/.477/.843 against RHP and .253/.311/.410/.721 against LHP.... and he's a RH batter.

Can't wait for him to be horribly mishandled by a dumbass manager.

"He's right-handed...why the heck can't he hit lefties?!?!?!?!?!"

I think Grabow to the 60-day DL is likely. Caridad I believe is on a rehab assignment with the possibility of joining the Cubs in September; unless that has changed he wouldn't be transferred to the 60-day.
