DLee trade

My guess is that this is meant more for where the prospects are going to be headed, not to alert anyone that Lee got dealt. My guesses would be Lorick to Daytona, Lopez to Peoria, and Harris to Tennessee.

All in all, I'm pretty psyched about Lopez. He seems like he'll definitely fit somewhere in our top 30, maybe even the back end of the top 20.

Would have posted this earlier but I hadn't seen it till now:

Sickels on Lopez:

Robinson Lopez, RHP: Lopez was in the Gulf Coast League last year and pitched great, with a 1.29 ERA and a 42/12 K/BB in 49 innings. He turns 19 in March and isn't guaranteed a spot in full-season ball to begin the year: he may start off in extended spring and report to Danville in June. But for our purposes here we will assign him to a long relief role at Rome, with a promotion to the rotation on tap should one of the starters get injured or promoted to higher level. Lopez has a 90-94 MPH and his secondary stuff is promising, if inconsistent.

18) Robinson Lopez, RHP, Grade C+: 4.38 ERA, 67/37 K/BB in 88 innings for Rome, 80 hits. Not great, not awful, just 19 years old.

Hope he will plug into the Peoria rotation but there isn't a lot of room there.

Maybe piggyback him with Batista for the rest of the year? He's got close to 100 innings and is only 19, so it's not going to bother me if they limit him quite a bit honestly. Next year will be very interesting for him though: Will he move up to Daytona or repeat Peoria? Given his age, either is acceptable, if you ask me.

This trade seems similar to the DeRosa trade - a young, projectable pitching prospect with good upside and two relievers who may be good enough to make the majors. The quality of pieces may be a bit less but that's to be expected considering what we traded.

I think it'd be great if he repeats.

Keith Law:

The Cubs get a pretty nice return for a guy they didn't need in a deal where they also get some salary relief. They get one legitimate prospect in Robinson Lopez; just 19 in low-A, Lopez sits at 92-94 and will run it up to 97 with an above-average curveball. His command and control are below-average and he's thrown just four innings this month after a blister put him on the shelf for two weeks. Jeffrey Lorick has a chance to become a situational left-hander down the road with a solid-average slider, while Tyrelle Harris was a senior sign out of the University of Tennessee and is more of an organizational arm.
