This offense really is frustrating.

 

Although it looks like we developed a decent back of the rotation starter out of pretty much nowhere, so at least there's that.

 

Wells?? He's more than a decent back of the rotation starter

 

Any calculations on what his ERA would look like if you took out that horrible stretch, I believe in May and June?

Im a big saber guy so that did impress me. But that also says Francisco Liriano is the best pitcher in baseball.

I admittedly soured on Wells in June, but there is really no reason he can't be a solid #3 starter for us for years to come.

Sabermetrics or not, I dont think youd get too many people to believe that Wells is better than the 2/3 starters for the Giants, Rangers, White Sox, Padres, Yankees, Braves, or Reds,

 

Fact is, as a 3-4-5, Dempster, Wells, and Gorz may be as good as it gets, but as a 1-2-3, not so much.

It doesn't matter to me what people believe, and that's a really bizarre choice of teams. Dempster, Wells, and Gorzelanny have been real good, regardless of the arbitrary labels you want to put on them.

Looks like the Rockies have 2 also w/ Ubaldo and Hammel. Blue Jays look to have Romero, Marcum and Morrow ahead of Wells. I don't see the Angels' 2nd unless you are talking about Haren who only has 3 starts with them?

Wells' last start has been included since I made that post, yesterday he was in front/equal to Ubaldo and the Blue Jays guys. And yes I was including Haren.
