Kyle Smit made his Cubs debut - threw 1 scoreless and hitless.
Between that and DeWitt's performance today (especially considering that he wasn't even going to start) I'd say early returns from the trade are favorable.

Between Hector Rondon, Jay Jackson, and Andrew Cashner, I'm beginning to wonder if teams should just avoid a "temporary move to the bullpen" experiment altogether.

That's a bandwgn I'd like to hop on.

Anyone know why Dolis got pulled after 3.1 and only one run allowed?

I'm not sure but it seems like he's building his arm strength after an 11-day layoff. His last outing was his first game back after those 11 days and he threw 56 pitches. Today, threw exactly 70 pitches.

guyer has been really good this year.

jae-hoon ha has also been doing reasonably well for a 19 year old in full season ball, but the guy needs to learn how to take a walk.

Last year at Boise, Ha had like one more outfield assist than walk.

Kirk loaded the bases in the 4th on a walk, single and a walk. Then Kyung-Min Na made an impressive catch in shallow center and the Hawks got an odd 5-2 DP (grounder to third, get the out at third and then throw home to tag the runner going home).

4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. That should be it for Kirk as he's near his pitch count. Larry Suarez should follow.

Dan McDaniel is pitching for Vancouver and against Boise in the NWL.
