Someone call Jeff Gillooly and tell him where to find Theriot.

i know everyone likes dumping on theriot, but can we wait to do it when he's having a bad game? he's 2-4 with a home run. i almost want him traded so that we don't need three posts after every ground out about how much he sucks and shouldn't play.

Man, last nights game vs Stl was huge. If the Cubs had won that game they would "only" be 7.5 games out of 1st place. Then just imagine if they had actually beat Houston and Pitt like they should have...Ya its fun to dream

that's not nearly as huge as you think.

A 2 game swing in the wrong way right now is pretty huge. When you take into account the games left vs the Cardinals, and that Stl and Cincy play each other 6 more times, 7.5 isnt insurmountable.

7-4 since the AS Break. Beating St. Louis 2 out of 3 does help. If they can keep this pace, which is probably unlikely, but is possible, 9.5 games can be easily erased.

If Cincinnati and St. Louis play .500 ball the rest of the way, then all the Cubs have to do is play at a 107 win pace from here on out. They are done.

41-21 is doable! Ok, or not..

The problem is the fact that there are 2 teams way ahead of the Cubs. If there were just 1, I'd still think it's doubtful but its a lot more likely for one team playing at a 90 win pace all year to randomly play .500 ball the last 60 games of the season than 2 teams playing around a 90 win pace falling to that level. And then that's without considering the Cubs playing better than they did in 2008 for 37% of the season.

I didn't get to see last night's game, but I had a look at a few replays this morning. Was the question ever raised as to whether Geo's 2R double was in fact a HR? In the replay footage, the ball appears to collide with the base of the foul pole:

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=10292845&query=%26game_pk%3D265297

Was this reviewed/discussed?

No. I think you're mistaken in what you think you're seeing since the ball hits the wall well below the foul below the foul pole and the HR line.

I figured as much. Thanks.
