Suppan's last start was not good, but I still don't think we could find much of a replacement, unless we gave up a bunch of prospects in a trade. Our rookies weren't doing any better.

Our offense also sucked last night.

Watching Schumaker, Ryan, Molina and Freese play every day is starting to hurt my head. I'm hoping there's a GM dumb enough to fall in love with Molina's intangibles and propose a good trade for him.

Suppan is terrible, i am so happy he is gone from the Brewers, since we let him go, the Brewer's have been playing better baseball. I think he may have been the cancer on the team.

Won't matter. We both know they're never trading him. Drives in too many runs with his glove.

trading molina would be pretty stupid. the bigger problem lies at other positions; the production molina usually gives plus his outstanding defense makes him a very valuable commodity at a tough position to fill.

his babip is .257 so far... i think it was a little high the last two years, but this year it's a lot lower than it should be.

This season would've been a lot more tolerable (and it was) in 2006 when he wasn't making any money. Now he makes close to $5 million this season and is on pace to be a 2-win player. He'll be making $7.5 million next season and that's way too much.

He has such a slow bat that his .257 seems about where it should be. It's like he chooses one AB per game to swing hard and then hits weak groundballs to 2nd every other.

he's at almost 20% line drives, which is where he was the last two years (and had BABIPs over .300)

Hawksworth did do well today, which is a good sign. Hopefully Penny will be back in the next few weeks. I'm not sure how long they expect Suppan to stay in the rotation. He's mostly an innings eater right now.

Suppan's 4.19 ERA (with the Cardinals) is not all that good, but he's kind of been about all we could expect. If he eats innings fairly efficiently until Penny and Lohse are back strong, I think the experiment will be a success. I would rather not give away a lot of prospects for a few months of a pitcher if we can help it.

He's supposed to be an innings eater, that doesn't mean he's done it much yet.

I'm not saying he's a great pitcher, but he's a decent fill in, for now anyway.

why is it so hard for you to admit that he's terrible?

and he'll never be an innings eater

Lots of Cardinal fans have no sense of reality. They'll talk about how clutch Suppan going 4 2/3 giving up 3ER with a WHIP of 2.2 is, but then they'll want to run Holliday out of town because, well, I don't know why or Rasmus because he "strikes out too much". And most of them believe that something is really wrong with Albert. Just a weird bunch of fans.

Improving from the start before where he went 4.2 and gave up 4?

He has a hilarious 3.9 K/9 all while walking guys at nearly the same rate. He can't eat innings, he can't keep the ball in the park, what is it you think he actually does well?

For some reason people love him in STL. He's "keeping them in the game." They don't seem to mind that it's 100% luck and that giving up a few runs in a few innings and exhausting the bullpen isn't really keeping them in the game all that much. I mean I'm glad that for the most part the other teams haven't scored that much off him, but he's been awful.

I'm a Cardinals fan, but every at bat against him has 1 of 3 results.

1. Walk

2. Smoked

3. Just missed it

Ugh, my mom asked me if I'd seen how well he's doing, and that she's happy he's back. She can probably name 15 Cardinals since Ozzie retired.

to absolutely nobody's surprise, miles is hitting .356 since joining the cardinals.

also, some guy named jon jay (wasn't he a surpreme court chief justice?) has an ops over 1.000 for them.

I loathe the organization's attachment to Miles, but I think La Russa has finally figured out that if he only gives him a handful of at-bats instead of inexplicably starting him every fifth day that he does well. That way he doesn't test the BABIP gods too often.
