back to back DL stints can't be good

Yea, it would explain his total lack of command this year compared to last year though. 1st time on DL was for forearm wasnt it? Elbow this time, which is never a good thing.

Jeff Stevens was called up from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday and Esmailin Caridad was placed back on the disabled list.

Caridad has inflammation in his right forearm and will have an MRI, assistant general manager Randy Bush said.

"Stevens is throwing the ball well and he deserves an opportunity," he said.

Stevens had a 2.60 ERA in 12 outings at Iowa, and will pitch in middle relief for the Cubs.

Caridad was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in eight relief appearances this season. He previously was on the disabled list from April 12 through May 8 with a right forearm strain.
