raley didn't give up a run in the first two innings! hopefully he will give up fewer than 12 runs this time around. so far he has pitched 2 innings, giving up a walk and a hit while striking out 4.

chirinos just hit his 6th home run of the year. we have two sorta-prospects at iowa (w. castillo and chris robinson) but considering that chirinos is beating up on the southern league and he's about 45 years old, it would probably be nice to move him to iowa at some point. BA had him in the cubs' top 30 so maybe he's a late bloomer whose bat can play at catcher.

Not a very exciting day on the farm

Daytona:

Vitters 1-4 with a HR

Jackson 0-4

Burke is 2-3 with a double, so I guess thats good.

Tennessee

Castro 0-4

Thomas 1-4

Iowa:

Micah Hoffpauir...I mean Jake Fox...I mean Brad Snyder 3-3 with a 3B and a HR. Are his defensive skills any good?

Wellington Castillo 2-3. I didnt realise he was up to .270 with a 1.033 OPS. I could see him as our backup catcher next year.

Snyder should be solid defensively. Good athlete, some pop in the bat, should have an above average to good arm. Problem has always been making contact.

Bour's hitting, but not enough power yet. Still probably a fringe corner type, but hey, at least there's something positive to a fairly inconsistent Peoria offense.

Burke's 3/4 is a nice sight to see. The double is nice as well. Here's hoping he can get it going a bit. I don't need him in AA this year - I just don't need him to stall or regress.

Very pleased with Raley's start. 5 ip, 6 h, 1 bb, 1 r, 9 K's, 3:2 GO/FO. I'm pleased more because he bounced back from the dreadful outing last time.

Mildly interested that they gave LeMahieu a start at short. Considering the other options there, might as well see what he has on occasion.

Decent outing for Muschko, 6 ip, 7 h, 2 r, 4 K's, no walks. I like him ... but geesh, he's become a flyball guy this year, and today, 5:7 GO/FO.

Mildly ... mildly curious if Tony Thomas may have found something. The 10:4 BB/K so far is a positive sign. That said, SSS. Interesting that they have him in RF, although that really doesn't mean much considering the other options there with Guyer on the DL. I imagine Spencer will get some RF time.

Pretty ho-hum day obviously. I am pretty happy to see Raley bounce back like he did though. He's been excellent 3 out of 4 starts, with the one awful game thrown in there. He seems to be pretty polished and it won't surprise me if he actually beats out B Jax and Vitters in getting called up to Tennessee this year. I don't see him as having nearly there upside, but I could see him getting moved quicker anyway.
