The Eyes of Texas (0-3) at Alamo Stealth (2-1)

Mighty D-Block (1-2) at NC Cubs (0-3)

Saber Metrics (3-0) at Quakers (0-3)

Bazingas (1-2) at Kid Rodelo (2-1)

Fuzzy Logistics (2-1) at Sock it Thome (0-3)

Harrys Budcrew (2-1) at Tootielicious (2-1)

Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (2-1) at Ron Washington's Dealers (2-1)

Game of the Week:

Northside Baseball(2-1) at Lynx (3-0)

A couple other realy good matchups occur in Sanetizers vs Dealers and Budcrew vs Tootielicious. The one thing that I have going for me this week is that I'm getting 6 of my starts from my top 3 pitchers, all with favorable matchups. We'll see how it works out but should be nice to have Felix, Greinke, and Weaver getting 6 starts for me.

I'm convinced Al's team has just been lying in the weeds for 3 weeks so he can jump up and beat the crap out of me this week like he did twice last year.

I thought Al's team had a really good chance against me last week. He had numerous starts to pick from, and most of them were against AAAA teams. I had to go shopping in the bargain bin to fill out my rotation.

Finally some life from my team. 37 points to start the week without using up a single pitching start yet (I sat Lannan against the Cubs). Too bad Raw didn't have Duke in his starting lineup.

This part time player crap is eating me alive.

Not really. I'd just like to see Geo get more at bats than Koyie.

Clarification, and I should know this. Can you pick up a scrap heap pitcher mid week to get your 7th start, or do you have to do so before your week begins?

You can pick one up mid week.

no, you can't.

if one of your guys gets injured, then yes. otherwise, no. why would that be allowed? rosters must be set by monday. it's been this way for a hundred years (rounded to the nearest hundred).

The active roster must be set by noon Monday each week and cannot be changed unless there is a benching, demotion to the minors, fantasy trade or injury.

Starting pitchers may be moved into or out of the active roster at any time.

That's different than actually picking them up off the scrap heap mid week. I don't know the answer to this one offhand, but I'll see what I can find.

Unless I can find something that conflicts with what Adam quoted, I would imagine that the rule is that they must be added before the week starts.

I did some digging and couldn't find anything. If someone else feels like digging back farther than the 13 or so pages of threads, feel free.

Otherwise, I'm going to stand pat with requiring roster additions only being allowed for extra starts if they are made before the first games of the week are under way.

Here is my main reasoning for that. First off, it's the way the rule is written. Secondly, if we allowed changes to get the seventh at any time, what's to stop someone from finding out early that their sunday starter will now miss their start due to a postponed game and then pick up another starter who is scheduled to pitch that Sunday?

that's different than picking up a free agent. that obviously refers to moving a guy from your starting lineup to bench and vice versa.

seriously, we go over the same [expletive] like six times a year. you can't pick up free agents mid-week unless there's a trade, injury, etc. am i the only one who can remember this stuff?

unless there's a reason why you didn't add this guy on monday (ie you didn't find out one of your starters was going to miss a start due to injury until tuesday), then it's just simply that you didn't get around to doing it until tuesday. tough [expletive]. add guys on monday if you want them for the week.

I have to disagree. There is nothing stated in the rules (that I can find) that says you cannot pick up a pitcher midweek in order to get a seventh start.

A. Active

Active rosters will be defined as the players selected to score points for the team

during a particular game period. The active roster must be set by noon Monday each week and cannot be changed unless there is a benching, demotion to the minors, fantasy trade or injury. Starting pitchers may be moved into or out of the active roster at any time. The active roster will be limited to but is not required to include:

1. One catcher

2. One 1b, 2b, SS, 3b

3. 3 OF

4. One utility player who may play any position including DH

5. 5 SP - no more than seven total starts per week will be allowed. Teams may have an extra reserve if, and only if, used to avoid a seventh

start. At the time of the extra reserve, there must be a corresponding reduction in number of active starting pitchers.

6. 2 RP

7. Positional eligibility is determined by a players current starting position or his past use. These rules are set forth on the league site as 10 appearances at a position in the current year or 20 the previous year. However, if a player is "named" the starter at a position, immediate eligibility will be granted by the commissioner upon request and general concurrence. Pitchers may be moved into either SP or RP positions freely but may only be used in the role they are used by their major league team. Pitchers in a position other than where they are used will not accrue points during that appearance.

I cannot find where it says you cannot pick up a FA SP for a start.

i don't see where it says you can (and none of the stuff you highlighted has anything to do with picking up free agents). and rosters need to be set on monday. so unless there's some exception that says you can pick up FA pitchers mid-week, it's pretty clear you cannot.

i can't believe we're debating this for the 943rd time.

This is the rule that applies to the question being asked. While it doesn't specify adding or dropping for 7th starts, it also doesn't make the exception. Since there is no exception, it reads as though all active roster changes must be set before games begin on Monday.

None of the other stuff that was highlighted applies. We are a league with weekly roster changes, not daily changes. If you know you only have 6 starts for the week, you should plan on adding someone before the Monday games begin. I did that last week with Livan Hernandez.

By allowing these changes midweek, it essentially allows people to make daily changes, which is something many of the managers in this league wish to avoid.
