I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post in this thread since you obviously have been posting in this thread for a reason, but part of me does think the Hawks win tonight just because the general consensus is that the Flyers win today and force a game 7. I swear EVERYONE is telling me that. But the other part of me has no [expletive] clue what is going to happen. It's just been a really unpredictable series for the most part.

Truffle.....win or lose I wanted to tell you that you have a fantastic likable team (but you already knew that). One that, even though I am spouting confidence about winning in the BH thread, I am deathly scared of losing to the next 2 games. You should feel fortunate that your team is likely built to win for awhile. Maybe you'll have a stanley cup to show for it this season, maybe not. But bottom line is, your team is awesome and will be awesome for some time.

 

Figured I'd write that now, because I couldnt stomach sharing that with you after a potential game 7 loss.

he's definitely a pansy. he goes down really easily when someone hits him and looks for calls all the time. he also doesn't play defense.

boy the hawks picked a good time to complain about pronger (after game four). one of the penalties called on him last game was a joke and that last one was ticky tack. of course both end up being power play goals.

good move seabrook, elbow a guy in the head after a whistle in an offsides call. whoever he hit did embellish it, but if they're going to call pronger then they have to call seabrook for that.

 

stop firing the puck into shin pads 30 times every power play.

 

and while there is sure to be plenty of griping in the other thread, you can't skate into forechecking player to give your teammate a clear breakout. that's about as obvious as interference gets.

i wouldn't feel bad if we won this game because we outplayed the hawks in game 2 and lost, but man are we getting outplayed tonight. i'm not sure if it's the 45 minutes a game that our top d-men have been playing or what, but we're just slower to everything.

That was a pretty bad goal. No reason for that goal to go in.

or the sharp goal, or the goal from behind the net in game five... he's just not very good. he had good players in front of him who covered up his mistakes, but at the end of the day he's not a starting goalie. ray emery was supposed to be that, and he actually is good, but he got hurt. bottom line, if we go into next year thinking we can win with bouch or leights in net, it's a huge mistake.

 

i'm not even mad at leighton or disappointed in him. he is what he is. asking him to outplay goalies like halak, niemi, brodeur and rask is expecting too much. he isn't good and lousy goalies allow lousy goals. it would've been fun to see this series if we'd had an average goalie instead of a below average one, but i suppose if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

Yeah, there were quite a few goals this series where my first thought was "soft." He's just not a very good goalie.

are we going to make an offseason thread now? no cynosure to start it up.

 

my first question about the offseason is whether there will be an investigation into the league rigging game six for the flyers to win, or whether the hawks winning the game has rendered that moot. because frankly that seems like something that should not be let go.

 

also, are there any cheap goalies who don't suck? because otherwise we're probably stuck with scrubs in net again. we also really need to improve our third pairing; krajicek was a castoff from some lousy team in the western conference and nobody has any confidence in parent. i think bartulis could mature into a solid third pairing d-man if they sign a solid stay at home guy to pair him with. forward we're in pretty good shape, especially with the emergence of leino.

okay, i heard nothing snarky from pronger, he must be dead or something. maybe there's still a chance to take the pressure off his team by saying something calculatingly clever, he should check out all possibilities.
