I want my sports idols to be fine, upstanding citizens like Mickey Mantle.

 

i don't care at all about athletes personal lives or what they act like. i just don't see why people get all upset when people point out that kane fits the mold of what many or most athletes are like.

 

people really shouldn't be looking at athletes if they want an idol or role model.

 

if reminds me of how bill simmons always talks about how he avoids hanging out with athletes that play for any of his teams because his perception of them is completely ruined when he sees the way they act and the things they do (most specifically the married ones).

I want Beach to be regular-season Byfuglien. If Skille is a competent third-liner (and I mean most teams' third lines, not the Blackhawks' uber-thirdline of the last few seasons), I'm happy with that.

i don't even understand why you're getting so pissed off. i'm not even insulting kane. i'm pointing what i think is kind of obvious. my brother is like obsessed with patrick kane and even he jokes about how much of a douche he comes across as a lot of the time.

 

i think it's funny. guys like kane make sports more interesting. i don't know why you're getting so pissy about it. most athletes are just like kane. it's been about 10 years since i accepted the fact that athletes in general are seedy people a lot of the time.

I finally ordered my Stanley Cup Champions hat, shirt, and DVD. Can't wait for them to show up.

 

I ordered the package and the schwag has been arriving individually for me. Kind of strange. I have the hat and shirt so far.

Yeah, they ship the stuff as it becomes available. I got the hat and puck on Friday and the shirt (along with another shirt I ordered) on Saturday. The DVD will apparently take awhile.

I ordered the package about an hour after they won on the 9th and got the shirt, hat and puck this past Wednesday (the 16th) and yeah, I assumed the DVD would take awhile.

 

I thought a week was a pretty solid amount of time to wait. I figured it would be longer, especially since NHL.com first said everything was on backorder.

i went on a little spending spree after they trounced the sharks in their house back at the beginning of the circus trip, and all that stuff arrived at the same time. but like you guys, the stuff i ordered (championship shirts in every color and style imaginable) has arrived individually. has anyone ever purchased one of those championship dvd's before? i haven't pulled the trigger yet because i'm not sure how comprehensive they are. if it's an hour-long nfl-films style recap i'd rather spend my money on something else, like one of those chinese knock-off jerseys. or four.

i have the 04 lightning dvd and it's amazing. the blackhawks one will be a must own. you get tons of footage that you haven't seen anywhere else.
