It's always a yard from working. Either a guy gets it 9 yards from the spot of the kick or a guy is one yard short from being able to grab it in the air before a defender can or it goes out of bounds 11 yards from the spot of the kick.

I look at it like this. Onside kicks work IIRC 10% of the time so Tomlin was essentially saying he believes his defense had less than a 10% chance to stop GB from taking the lead. I think we can all agree Pittsburgh would have stopped GB at least 1 out of 10 times in that situation speaking hypothetically obviously.

You also have to factor in the time as well. Because of the short field, the Packers gave the Steelers 2 minutes to drive back down the field. Had the Steelers forced Green Bay to drive 80 yards, the Packers likely would have just kicked a game-winning field goal.

This is true. Still though playing the percentages I would still say kicking it deep would have been the better move.

I don't know that it's a great call, but I agree with it. Neither defense played very well at all, so I like the idea of ensuring that your offense - the strength of your team - has a chance to win the game.

It's all about leaving the game in the hands of your strongest unit.

Mason Crosby can go to hell.

Nice work Defense, and Josh Bell.

I hate everything

Meh, we got Seattle next week. You either win that one and you're fine (you'll either have to win the last week or need the Giants or Dallas to lose one of 5 games), or you lose that one and you don't deserve playoffs anyways.

That's a heartbreaker of a game though.

That was a nice win for the Titans, but as soccer10k mentioned, it's unlikely CJ will reach the 2,000 mark.

As for the really slim Titan playoff hopes, the Broncos losing helped a little, but that awesome pitch and catch by Big Ben and Wallace negated that help. Then the Ravens mowing over the Bears didn't help either. Still looks really unlikely, but there's still a tiny chance.

After Week 7, being able to even mention playoffs is a great feat right now.

Don't fault Bell on that final play. That was excellent coverage, just a hell of a throw by Big Bitch Roethlisberger and a tremendous catch too. Blame Jarrett [expletive] Bush for that loss.

I hate the Steelers. We have some of the most heartbreaking losses in NFL history, but what else is new? As long as we take care of business against Seattle, everything's fine. Still, I want to throw up right now.

Go watch the Blackhawks. They are making everything feel much better.

yeah, that took a perfect throw and catch to get it through the coverage. He had his arm in there and everything, just a beautiful game winning TD

It's helping a little bit.

Minnesota has to be the most likely team with a bye (assuming they get one and don't choke the last couple weeks) to be a one-and-done in the playoffs.

I think this weekend proved that the NFC (and AFC I suppose) is WIDE open.

As long as we get in, we have as good of a shot as anyone...although our lack of depth at CB is certainly frightening.

For sure on both points.

I also really don't trust Crosby to make anything, including PAT's.

I still think that team is the Saints.
