Chicago Baseball Loyalty

I am new to the board and have enjoyed reading the discussions thus far. I am gathering great information and insight into all things Cubs just from reading some of the posts. I am a huge Cubs' fan, but currently live in Seattle for school, where I am completing my Master's before beginning my Ph.D. I constantly take grief from individuals who don't understand how I can remain loyal to a team that lets me down year after year (as if the Mariners are any better). I honestly don't have a reason other than my passion for the Organization. My love for the team has led me to do my thesis on the socialization of Chicago baseball fans into supporters of the Cubs and/or Sox. As supporters of the Cubs, if you can spare five to ten minutes to complete the survey below for my data collection through Survey Monkey, I would greatly appreciate it. If not, no big deal. Just one request: as noted on the consent form, I'd ask that you post a summary of the results, when they become available, on NSBB for us to check out. Simply for curiosity's sake ... they should be interesting.

Again, thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey. I know it was a little long with similar questions throughout it. I will definitely post the results when I have them. I'm a little concerned right now about the difference between the number of responses I am seeing from Cubs' fans (majority) and Sox fans. Normally I'd joke about the Sox fans ability to read or something, but I think it's just that I have many more friends that are Cubs' fans than Sox fans. Anyways, thank you so much for your time and feedback.

It probably shouldn't surprise you that more Cubs fans responded than Sox fans. I think there are more Cubs fans outside of the Chicago area than Sox fans, so if you also posted this request on a Sox message board it may not have reached as many people because it might not have as many members to start with.

 

I'm a PhD myself and have developed surveys, so I understand the reasoning behind asking similar questions.
