Agreed. I def want to see what Niemi can do full time. His numbers so far have been really impressive. I believe Q knows this and is keeping Niemi fresh by playing Huet a lot until later in the season LOL

I'm ready for a 50/50 split of time. It's probably been 60/40 the last few weeks anyways. Give Niemi a chance to fail or prove legit.

I really think the goalie situation is the only thing that may keep the Cup away from the Hawks. On any given night Huet could have a day like tonight, and in the playoffs that is not going to cut it.

yeah, that's what i'm saying. the hawks are good enough that they dont need great goaltending usually, but in the postseason when you have to win 4 series, all it takes to screw everything up in one game like tonight from huet.

he can be fine for 4 games, but what if you go into a game 5 in a tied series and he has a game like this? i know all goalies have bad games. but huet often has games where he simply doesn't give his team a chance to win. that game against dallas a couple weeks ago is a good example.

in a best of 7, all it takes is one of "those" games, and you're in all kinds of trouble

The fact that most Hawks fans I know feel this way means only one thing (IMO), that Huet cannot be trusted at this time if the playoffs started tomorrow.

Checked the score after dinner last night and it was 5-1. WTF?

Won't be able to go back and watch recording of the game for a few days. Sounds like Huet sucked?

At least they get a chance to get it out of their system tonight.

Blackhawks are 2nd in NHL in goals allowed...not sure Huet is as bad as you guys think. He probably is just as good as Chris Osgood was a couple of years ago

They are also first in shots allowed per game. They are allowing 24 shots per game and you have to wonder how many of those are quality shots considering Chicago is leading most of the time and the opposing team would need to shoot more desperation shots. He's doing ok but he has lapses for a game and in the playoffs that would not be a good thing.

He's actually been pretty good for the last month or so, but he was absolutely awful in the 3rd period last night. 4 of the 8 shots went in, and 3 of them should have been easy stops.

He was awful last night. I just dont think he is so bad that the Hawks cannot win the cup with him. The Hawks are a good enough team they can win with an average goalie. Huets biggest problem is he is paid like a very good goalie.

I agree. I think Huet is good enough to win a cup with. But I also know that Q isn't prideful enough to not pull Huet if he is colder then the ice that team plays on.

2-0 Ducks.

End of 1st period.

*Note: It's good to see the Hawks giving up 6 unanswer goals over a course of two periods , excluding overtime/shootout.

Yesterday's game better not have started a soul crushing free fall. Way too early to judge of course but their response to the game isn't good so far.

that's what people said after every bad loss the cubs had during the 2008 season.

only a fluke team could have a badass record and then free fall. this team is not a fluke. they are the best team in the nhl. the only way they could have a free fall is if they were crushed by injuries.

I know, even a "free fall" I wouldn't expect to be devastating, just bad enough that it would be tough to stay in the President's Trophy race upon recovery.

The last 3 games by the Hawks, we gave up a 2-0 lead to start the game against Boston, blew a 4 goal game midway through the 3rd period and lost, and now let Anaheim build up a 2-0 lead tonight. Not an impressive stretch of hockey considering what we're used to.

first of all, every single team goes through a stretch like this. the 2008 cubs went through like 3 different horrible stretches.

and i dont see why you're complaining about giving up a 2-0 lead to boston when we scored 5 straight and won. might as well point out every time this season that an opposing team has scored 2 straight.

also, theyre outplaying the ducks tonight.

Well, this is the only team I have now (as well as basically everyone else on here) who has a shot at anything now. Sure enough, they're doing a great job at crapping the bed the last three periods.

First of all I haven't been able to watch the game so I was making an assumption they were getting outplayed. After looking at the SOG numbers I see its one of those games. Second of all, I'm obviously overreacting like I do all my teams with high expectations. I don't think I believe what I'm tying as I say it. They just haven't been playing as well as they have been for a few periods, and it's strange to see them not be anything but awesome.
