Surging Cubs might not be ready to dump Harden

The Cubs began Friday 7 1/2 games back in the National League wild-card race. After winning two of three from the Mets, they are 5 1/2 back, albeit in fifth place. The Rockies and Giants are tied for the wild-card lead. The Braves and Marlins are tied for third place, 3 1/2 games back.

Will the Cubs win the wild card? Probably not; they stand only a 2.7 percent chance according to the Baseball Prospectus playoff odds report. But they still could justify keeping Harden, reasoning that the Rockies might be fading and pointing toward their four remaining games against the Giants from Sept. 24 to 27.

LOL @ "surging", though.

This team wouldnt surge if you put 40,000,000 votes through them. The are dead. pushing up the daisies. they have gone on to meet the maker. they have joined ther choir invisible. they are bleeding demised.

I will vote for them.

Vote none of the above.

There's always a chance. There's also a chance that tomorrow Megan Fox will come over to seduce me. It's just slightly less than the Cubs chances of making the playoffs.

I'd rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than optimistic and horribly disappointed.

I am still optomistic that the Cardinals will go on a 11 game losing steak and the Cubs will go on an 11 game winning streak exactly at the same time. :pig:

You and Soto should have plenty to smoke in October.

Sorry, smoking pot makes you hungry. And for some, a little paranoid. Insanely irrational hope and optimism are NOT one of the effects.

Maybe they could pop some Ecstasy or something...

That was for medicinal purposes, Geo had an eating disorder he was trying to clear up or was it acne, one or the other
