peoria leads 1-0 in the 4th. burke doubled and scored in the second inning; antigua has 3 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K. jackson is 0-2 with a K but reached on a wild pitch while striking out, and then stole second and third.

tennnessee is tied 1-1 in the 6th; welington castillo has homered. tenn is only a game back of first place in their division.

vitters is 2-4 (both singles) in game 1. glad the hits are coming, but it would be nice to see some more power now. also that 9 BB/55 K is pretty fugly.

As memory serves me, he started off similarly slow in the MWL, followed by a streak of singles and sporadic doubles, followed by him tearing the cover off the ball for a month. I'm guessing it's been a bit of a pain for him to adjust to the FSL thanks to the rain outs and hand injury, but hopefully he can finish the season on a positive note.

B. Jackson hit by pitch (benches were cleared). Apparently 2 barely missed him, and the third pitch got him. He threw his bat down and took a couple of steps towards the mound. According to Nathan, the pitcher was definitely throwing at Jackson. And also according to Nathan, Pevey is pissed!

And Chiefs pitcher, Manolin De Leon, is ejected after the first pitch of the inning sails behind the Quad Cities batter! The hitter, Frederick Parejo, charged the mound with the bat, but did not get ejected. I can't wait to hear more details from NAthan! Thought we might get a good fight in!

Chiefs manager Pevey ejected as well.

Now Quad Cities pitcher, Jonathan Gonzalez hits Burke...must not have been intentional..no ejections, no benches cleared.

WTF? That sound's horrible umping. You don't eject a pitcher who has to try 3 times to hit a player and makes it clearly obvious? Then you eject the pitcher of the other team on the next HBP - but don't eject the guy who charges the mound with a bat. Then you don't eject another pitcher who hits a batter? Quad Cities came away from that bit looking fantastic here while 3 Chiefs got ejected.

By the way, MiLB.com said it was Erik Hamren who threw the pitch and got ejected.

Nathan Baliva[/url]"]After the Chiefs added three more in the eighth, tempers flared. Perez began the inning with base on balls from Jonathan Gonzalez. Michael Brenly followed with a single and Junior Lake made it 10-1 with a triple into the left field corner. Lake easily scored on a sac fly by Macias to put the Chiefs up by ten. But the Bandits wouldn't go quietly as Gonzalez threw three straight pitches at Cubs first round pick Brett Jackson. The third plunked Jackson and both benches cleared, though no punches were thrown but both teams were warned.

Erik Hamren's first pitch of the bottom of the inning sailed behind Freddy Parejo and the benches cleared again as Parejo took two steps toward the mound with his bat in hand. Again no punches were thrown as Hamren and Chiefs manager Marty Peavey were ejected. Bandits' reliever Dave Carpenter hit Burke in the top of the ninth with one on but was inexplicably not ejected.

Good to see Oswaldo Martinez doing well after being pushed and struggling a bit in the Mexican Pacific League earlier in the summer.

Yeah, when I posted that, it had not yet been updated...my bad. It was crazy listening to it - I was ready for a brawl! :flame:

I would very much like to bump Colvin to Iowa just to see what hes capable of. If Im not mistaken, he'll be rule 5 eligible this off season, and its time to poop or get off the pot with him. Hes done well for himself at AA and we should bump him to the next level.

Nice outing for Papelbon. What type of prospect is he considered? I never see him on anyone's lists and his peripherals are not good at all. Is he a non prospect at this point?

Could be a decent lefty reliever, but his stuff isn't all that great.
