Interesting arm night. Muschko has been surprisingly good as a starter to make me wonder a bit. Still think he's probably a rubber arm type, but ... well, same was said about Randy Wells (okay, I'm not really comparing the two ... although now that I ponder it, their repetoire's, from what I recall last year on Muschko, are somewhat similar ... any updates on Muschko's stuff this year?). He's quietly had a solid season, and actually, has had back to back quality seasons. Maybe a Mitch Atkins type is a better comparison.

I very much want to see Cashner have a dominant game after Saturday. It could be the one ray of sunshine in an otherwise dreadful week of Cubs baseball.

i went to florida with two friends in the summer of 2002, and one of them had a friend who played for jupiter, an affiliate of the marlins. i'm fairly certain that nic ungs was the starter that night. that was 7 years ago, and he's moved up one level.

Yeah Ungs was in the MWL in 2002 when the Marlins were in Kane County and I was an intern here. I know he spent some time for the Marlins in AAA before going to the Brewers system. And he pitched at Northern Iowa so he has to be 29 or 30...

Burke is making it EXTREMELY difficult to leave him off of any Cubs Top 10 lists.

burke is getting very intriguing. power is starting to blossom (6 homers in july/august), walk rate is up from last year, K-rate is down. he was 5th in the league coming into tonight in OPS (top 10 in BA, OBP and SLG) and he's still only 21. it'll be interesting to see if he gets moved up to daytona this year, and if they consider jumping him to tennessee next year.

huseby gives up a cheap run in the 8th... looks like he K'ed the leadoff hitter but the guy reached on a wild pitch, stole second, then scored on 2 ground outs before huseby K'ed the fourth batter of the inning. that's what i surmise from the box score anyway.

thats exactly what happened. strike 3 almost hit the batter and went to the backstop. First run allowed by Huse since July 5. 11 games, 15 2/3 innings.

Well he scores every time he gets on. Averages more than one stolen base attempt per time he reaches and is succesful at a resonable rate of 75%.

 

Plenty to be excited about there!! I'm gonna pencil him in at 21 on my top 30,
