I wasn't really a Cubs fan in 1990 so I didn't see the last All Star game that was played there. Well they are showing little half hour All Star recap shows on MLB Network today and at 5:30 CT they are showing the 1990 game. Just figured I'd give everyone a heads up whose never seen this game or wants to see the highlights again.

Ryne Sandberg won the pre game Homerun Derby. The wind was blowing in and he hit liners into the basket / first row in the alley.

The rain pretty well assured the AS game was a boring P.O.S. Just one of those things. . . .

why hasn't wrigley hosted an all star game in 20 years? yankee stadium got it twice. fenway got it twice. i understand that baseball wants to feature its new stadiums in games (evidenced when pittsburgh got the game when it was to be an al team's turn to host) but for a historic landmark where major league baseball games are still played, 20 years seems to me far too long a time to not have the asg at wrigley.

at this rate new yankee stadium is going to have an all star game before wrigley does again.

I assume it has lots and lots to do with the fact that Wrigley only holds 42K at capacity. Maybe not, but that's just a guess.

Well I mean there are 30 teams out there and it's been 20 years. I understand the point about Wrigley being a historic place but I think in the MLBs minds there are teams that need it more than the Cubs. I guarantee you there will be another ASG at Wrigley but the question is when.

its not that. SF had attendance of 43k in 2007 and Pittsburgh had 38k in 06. It probably has more to do with Wrigley not having a lot of space for all the other crap, as well as the stigma of falling apart.
