The bottom line is the Cubs will be able to continue to compete because we're going to spend more money than the other teams in the division. Injuries, players not performing to standard, etc. can happen to anybody. There's a little luck that goes into everything.

 

However, chicago is a destination unlike any other city in the division and we spend more. There will naturally be some ebb and flow but as long as managment spends money, the Cubs will be perennial threats in this division. I don't think I'd trade the Cubs next 5 or 10 years for anybody else in the NL.
