Just for the record, when Miles hit .290 for the Cardinals, his OPS+ was 76, which coincidentally is almost dead on his lifetime figure. Essentially -- and I write this, as always, with the appropriate respect for someone who could post even a 76 OPS+ against the best pitchers in the world -- but essentially Miles isn't good enough to play regularly in the majors.

According to the Sun Times Twitter, the plan is for Fox to get regular at-bats in AAA and then be brought back up when the Cubs go on the road during interleague play.

fortunately this offense is putting up runs like crazy so we can definitely afford to keep non-factors like scales, miles and blanco as infield depth while farming out a legitimate hitter like fox.

but Jake Fox is a really bad fielder.

yeah everyone knows that already, but what's the point of keeping scales, fontenot, blanco and miles to play 2 positions when none of them can hit particularly well? just farm one of them out and keep fox to pinch hit and start on very rare occasions.

Fox's AAA batting average increased while he was in the majors. A suspended game that started when he was in AAA was completed while he was in the majors. Upon completion of the game he got credit for being 1 for 2 during the first part of the game, raising his average by one point. They mentioned that on the telecast tonight.

I see that its a tough call for Hendry here b/c of some the defensive difficulties we have had, but I'd rather take my chances with Fox than Scales. And I'd rather have Scales than Miles.

Agreed. Unfortunately, Miles isn't going anywhere.

OK, Im not going to say hes the answer to our problems, but hes really raking in Iowa, be it a small sample size. Id rather have him than Miles, or at this point, Fontenot. He was a very solid player until around 2007 when he started getting injured, as opposed to Miles whose always sucked and capitilized on 1 respectable season in 2008. Just bring Freel up and see what he can do.
