We're all sick, guys. We're sick. We need to be institutionalized for putting up with this. So, so sick.

Every team plays similar to this at some point in a season. Maybe not 3 runs in 5 games but just as irritating.

Wow, 1st and 3rd 0 outs and we can't even get 1 of the runs home.

What is the record for least runs scored by a team over a 5 game span?

probably 0

Making a change just to make a change is never a good idea. That is true in almost any area of life. If there's a reason to justify the change, then it's worth considering. But frankly, it's quite asinine and short sighted just to make a change unless there is a tangible reason to make one.

What would you do if you were in a position of power with the Cubs right now, then? Wait it out indefinitely? Honestly curious.

Frankly, yes. If I could make a change in the roster via trade that I felt would improve the team, I'd surely do that, but at this point in the season, few teams are selling. Changing the manager or hitting coach at this point is unlikely to bring results. Both Lou and Perry are good at what they do. There's probably few if any people that could be found at midseason who are better than they.

Firing the GM at this point does nothing.

Right now, the best thing to do is wait it out. Now, if this team flounders all year long, then looking at wholesale changes is a valuable thing to do. It's just that it's pretty pointless at this stage and probably will do more harm than good.

The 1968 Chicago Cubs once scored only 2 runs in a 5 game stretch, including 4 consecutive shutouts in a row.

But 1968 was a much different ERA for baseball with regards to hitting.

Maybe they can set on fire a small piece of the organization. Say, Ron Santo's toupee maybe.

No team has ever gotten shut out 5 consecutive games, but a team has gotten shut out 4 consecutive games 11 times.

If it was 1968, probably a lot more mellow since everyone would have been stoned, contributing to the free love movement, or battling a contact high.

Or we just donate a few from here.

You know what the sick part of this is? I still feel somewhat confident that the Cubs will make the postseason.

Strange how the last 2 years I was irrational and pessimistic and we did good, and this year I've been much more levelheaded and confident and we're floundering.

I don't think we'll make it but for some reason I just don't care that much. I'm not over the last two years yet.

Before the year started I guessed 79-82 and just not showing up to the last game of the year... I was half-joking and mostly upset about the DeRo trade, but I may turn out to be a genius.
