Awesome line up card screw up in Tampa today.

 

Maddon decided to give Longoria the day off in the field today, but still wanted him to DH. But, he screwed up and listed him at 3b and batting 3rd. Zobrist was slated to play 3b.

 

With 2 3b's listed and no DH, they lose the DH and the pitcher has to bat, so Sonnanstine is hitting 3rd in the Rays line up today.

Smart move by Wedge. I'd do anything I could to get Longoria out of the opposing lineup as well.

Not sure if it worked or not. Wedge created a 20-25 minute delay to the start of the bottom half of the inning with a first time starter on the mound. It was 1-0 Tampa before Sonnanstine stepped to the plate.

 

You be the judge. And I'm still not sure if the Rays can double switch Longoria in there if they want. I certainly would as soon as Sonnanstine is ready to be pulled.

Yes, I believe that's the case. The announcers also saw a previous version of the line up card that had it right. They already knew that Longoria was getting the day off at 3rd. They just said that they are so used to penciling in Longoria at 3rd, that they accidentally wrote it in on the official card.
