Jake Opitz is expected to join Daytona to replace the recently promoted Marquez Smith.

Speaking of which, what happens now that Bobby Scales is back in Iowa? Does Camp go back to Tennessee and Marquez to Daytona, or what?

Wrigley Rat pointed out yesterday that Matulia went on the DL for Iowa, so the roster spot is still there.

Three pitchers I'm at least somewhat hopeful for. Nice.

Cashner's final line is 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 7 GO-1 FO.

I find it hard to not call him Cash Money.

Drew Rundle was demoted to Peoria today as Tony Campana was promoted to Daytona. (swapped places). Outfielder Kurt Calvert has called it quits at EXTST in Mesa.

Is he that far behind because of missing time? Is that why he only went three?

Yeah, they're building up his pitch count after he started the year in Mesa rehabbing his oblique injury.

Glad to see Tony getting moved so quickly - he was doing really well in Peoria.

Recap from Memphis:

I really enjoy going to Redbird games, too bad they aren't the Cubs farm team. They are owned by a not-for-profit Corp. so they do a lot of charity work in the city. It's just a first class organization.

Anywho,

Jose looked really good the first three inning. He was working in the low 90s and had some really nasty breaking pitches. Whoever was pitching for Memphis (lefty) was throwing off-speed all game. He was tough on the free swingers. Not much to report. Bobby Scales had a HR to dead left. Jake Fox looks like he's put on a lot of weight since last year. Chad Fox pitched and I laughed waiting for his arm to fall off.

Overall, I don't think there was too much talent on either team last night.

I had some bbq nachos and Leinenkugles Reds (4 of them) and my son fell asleep in the 7th.

I am told that Campana may be the fastest player in the Cubs system. Many of his hits would be routine outs for most players because of his speed. His speed turns an average (no power) hitter into a offensive threat.

absolutely - in fact, in his senior season at Cincinnati, he was ranked 4th in division 1 with 44 SB - he is quick, and moves enough with his lead on whatever base he's on to cause some nervousness for the pitcher.
