It's going to be a long night for Daytona. It's already 4-0 in the bottom of the first.

I didn't see it mentioned yesterday, but apparently Searle only threw 58 pitches in his 6 innings. I guess they really were pounding that sinker early in counts.

Haha, looks like we cross posted that in different game threads.

Muyco is getting beat up.

McDaniel leaves the game after warming up in the first inning. Sounds like a back problem.

Muyco is quickly warming up to replace him.

Des Moines Register[/url]"]“I was actually happy to move to a new club,” said Snyder, who was waived by the Indians and signed by the Chicago Cubs last September. “I needed a little re-energizing. I’m a northern Ohio guy and I grew up (in Sandusky) watching every game on Tribe TV. But I just want to get to the major leagues with whoever will give me a chance.”

“The ball definitely makes a loud noise off of his bat,” Cubs manager Bobby Dickerson said. “As loud as anyone I’ve heard. He’s got to produce that type of swing more often. He misses sometimes. But the talent is in him.”

“It felt good to hit a couple of balls hard in the same game,” he said. “I just wanted to square up the ball. I haven’t had any multi-hit games this year and I’ve always been a streaky hitter, so hopefully I can build on this.”

“I was hitting my spots on both sides of the plate with my fastball,” Wells said. “And I was able to do the same thing with my changeup. Then, I could mix in the slider when I needed to show them something different. Everything clicked.”

“I told (Mike) Mason that was the first time I’d pitched in the seventh inning since he’s been my pitching coach,” Wells said. “I felt like I could have gone longer (than 81 pitches), but there was no need.”

Baseball superstition dictates that no one talk about a no-hitter in progress. And Wells said that was not a problem Wednesday.

“We were more worried about what was going on behind the dugout,” he said. “There were a lot of good-looking girls up there.”
