Harden gave up 8? Crap. Did it look as bad as the box score says it is? I just turned it on.

worse

Simply unreal.

Fell behind a lot of hitters, toped out in the upper 80s and had Fukudome in CF.

You might be thinking of Robert Ransom. He was a pitching prospect, I think out of Vandy (maybe).

edit - I just checked and you are correct. The Cubs signed him in 2005 and sold to Texas 2 months later.

Not like Lily was a prize yesterday either.

He got hit pretty damn hard. Even some of the balls that didn't go out were hit pretty hard. Like others have said, he got behind a lot of hitters, and was throwing in the upper 80's.

He's gotten the least work of any of the Cubs starters, so its not the end of the world, but I still would have rather seen more out of him.

If it keeps up like this, I hope Hendry has the green light to go after Peavy. Hardens health concerns me. Ted is just Ted. He always gives up a lot of homers. After all, it is still just Spring Training.

Not many more days for us to fall back on the spring training excuse.

I'm sure he is not 100%. My guess is that he won't be for most of the season. That has been my concern all winter. A lot of fans are banking on Harden to put up big numbers. My gut tells me to expect a Wood/Prior outcome. Maybe thats just the Cubs fan in me. :D

So is Harden going to get a sim game/side session in before he starts Friday in Milwaukee?

i thought he was getting skipped...?

Me, too. Foolish to expect big numbers, but it'll be nice if he does. I suppose my biggest concern is that he goes down early.

Yeah but the fact it still is, and because of the WBC, Lilly hasn't thrown as many innings as he'd like to prepare for the season. How do we know he wasn't testing stuff last night, trying to work on locating his fastball, etc. When the season starts, you'll likely see a different gameplan than we've been seeing.

That's the hope.
