Unfortunately the Cubs already have Micah Hoffpauir already on the team. Otherwise, I would say cut Gathright (who needs him when Reed is already on the team) and sign Dallas. Or cut the similar player Hoffpauir to sign Dallas. But we know Hendry will not do either to sign Dallas, so this is a moot point.

I had mentioned it in the roster cuts thread, but I think McPherson might be deserving of his own thread. Is he out of options? I don't see why the Marlins would cut him otherwise. Sure he had a rough spring, but wouldn't his performance last year in the minors warrant keeping him around?

 

Personally I'd love to have a bat like that in the minors at the very least if we need a 3B safety net for Aramis

If he can't find anyone willing to give him a bench spot(which I think will be the case), then he could do a lot worse than playing for Iowa. No 3B depth in our system, and a 3B who is important to our team but has had injuries in the past.

Glaus is out til June at the earliest. They won't be picking up McPherson with Freese, Wallace, and even Mather as similar players though.
