Well, I was hoping the Big Ten could have pulled off a 3-1 day. I hope the Hilltoppers can beat Gonzaga and make my Cinderella sweet sixteen pick correct.

Is there some rule that states Duke must always play their 1st round and 2nd round games in North Carolina?

Yes, it's called pod seeding. In this case, it actually works to Duke's detriment since a lot of UNC fans will cheer against them. It happened when Duke and UNC were both 1 seeds in 2005.

some of the fans like UNC? who cares, the advantage is in not travelling across the country.

UNC and Duke can be placed in the same location, so UNC fans that stay for the later games will cheer against Duke. And yes, an advantage is not traveling across the country, which Duke has earned with their season.

its just that there is always games in NC. there isnt always games in IL, despite the having the 3rd largest city

Yeah, Chicago isn't really a hotbed for college basketball, unlike North Carolina. They did host a regional in 2005 and a 1st/2nd round game a few years ago as well.

This team just wasn't very good this year. Weber should have been commended for making the tournament with a squad that featured only two real players.

I agree that Weber has done an amazing job with an average team. I don't think I've ever seen a team that could look so inept offensively for extended periods of time. Some of the games have been pure torture to watch this season, including tonight's game. I can't imagine anyone who isn't an Illinois fan would enjoy watching them play.

Wasn't that always the story with Nick Smith? Until his last year he just dropped off a cliff...

I like how they cut away just in time to see the higher seed pull away from the lower seed and thus become a less interesting game then the one they cut away from.

Before you commend Weber, remember the job of a coach is to also recruit talent.

if only there were a thread discussing his ability to recruit....

Which by all accounts he has done for the upcoming classes.

In year 6.

If we're going to come back, we really need to, you know, score a little
