Pick for me!!!

Keeper league, Rotisserie style. Typical stats.

 

My roster: HRamirez, MHolliday, Longoria, Quentin, Kemp, Votto, David Price.

 

Top players on the board are KRod, Rivera, Rios, Oswalt, Youkilis, Lackey. Also, Alexei Ramirez is tempting because he's the best 2B on the board til Uggla.

 

I need to know who to pick.

I say Oswalt.

With that many players per team gone, I think you need a pitcher with some guaranteed production, since Price is a bit of a wildcard and is your only arm right now. Oswalt's been steady at giving 200 IP of good production, although on this year's Astro team he probably will get jobbed out of a couple wins.

I went with Lackey over Oswalt because I figured Roy O had a better chance of making it back to me. I pick in the 1st slot, but traded the #1 for the #7 and Matt Holliday, so Oswalt only had to make it 13 picks. And he did. So, I was able to get Roy O and Lackey.

Not much on the board in hitters. But I don't want to be stuck with extremely weak spots, so I think I'm going to target VMart or Huff (C or U) next along with a P. But I don't know if I want a SP or RP. I hope the league shies away from guys like Gallardo, Harden, and Wainwright because of injuries and hope Nolasco stays under the radar so maybe I can get 2 of these guys after it goes around a couple times.

 

Any suggestions on what I would do?

Catcher is pretty deep (although VMart is a pretty darn awesome value in the 11th round). Save your U for later in case someone you really like falls. Plus there are great 1B deals later on in Konerko or Giambi or even Blalock. 2B is a pretty shallow position, whos on the board there?

I ended up going VMart and Lester. Cano was the best 2B out there and he just went before I picked again. So, at this point I'm looking at Figgins or Derosa. But I was able to pick up Kerry Wood and Aubrey Huff last time around, which I think are steals. Guys like Jason Werth and Jose Valverde went ahead of those 2.
