My wife is thinking of taking me to spring training next year for my 40th birthday. Do any of you have hotels, etc. to recommend?

Wait, I don't get it.
The key word is "going."

Got it.

I can handle going potty, I just want to know hotels, etc. people have had luck with. Wiseakers.

i am going the 1st weekend in March. I am staying in a residence inn over in Glendale/Peoria. Its location is close to Surprise (My Parents live there) and Mesa. I went on Priceline and got it for $65 a night

I stayed in Scottsdale one year. It was nice. I wish I could remember the place but I can't.

Anyway -- I guess my point is you don't need to stay at the closest place to Mesa. I found parking, getting the ballpark complex, etc. to be relatively easy. I was probably 20 minutes away by freeway. The area around Hohokam is residential, not really very interesting when the Cubs aren't playing (unless it has changed in the last 5 years).

Cool. I'd say we'll probably look at something like that and rent a car.

You have to rent a car in and around Phoenix. Everything is 45 minutes away, at least. I stayed in scottsdale as well. You should consider seeing them at hohokam as well as a road venue.

I'm really hoping I get sent to Phoenix for work next month. Will definitely try to stay an extra day and see a game.

Good idea- there's several teams working out in driving distance, right?

Yes, and more than there were when I went in 2006. We also caught a Blackhawks/Coyotes game.

And it gives you a better chance of catching the Cubs if you check out the road teams.

Agree with those who say don't stay in Mesa.
