I win, Tim. And I did it right to boot.

just for that I'm going to trade up two spots and steal another player from you! :)

9 of my prospects are in BA's top 100 (McGee being the lone hold out).

Five of mine are (Bumgarner, Davis, Hernandez, Cardenas, and Brackman).

I've got 8:

6: Snider

12: Alvarez

22: Tillman

25: Matusz

27: LaPorta

34: Gamel

93: Aumont

97: Gio Gonzalez

The only real prospect I have that isn't listed is Michael Main. I also have two guys I traded away to make moves in the draft that placed high, as well.

29: Parker

41: Zimmerman

Of course, this pales in comparison with the year I had 5-6 of the top 10 prospects. :(

I had to cut Gio after I picked up Fowler via a pre-draft trade.

Perkins?

I, uh, have no idea what you're talking about. My post clearly states that Tootie selects Perkins.

Yeah.

I have 6 in the top 100. Scherzer apparently doesn't qualify, otherwise I'd have 7. Surprised David Huff didn't make it, otherwise I'd have 8.

Tootie only wishes he could draft Chris Ray.

Q: Steve from Chicago asks: Did David Huff get any consideration for the 90-100 range? Seems like he's a much safer bet to become a successful ML SP over some of the pitchers in that range. I take it his ceiling was just too much lower to justify ranking him ahead of a guy like Aumont or Jeffress?

A: Jim Callis: Of the six BA staffers who put together top 150 lists as the starting point for our Top 100 list, four included Huff, but none had him in the Top 100. I think I was the high man on Huff at No. 111. I think you summed up why pretty well. Huff's ceiling pales in comparison to those of the pitchers who made it, but he can be a No. 3 starter and is a relatively safer bet to realize his potential. One thing to keep in mind is that there's not a huge difference in value between prospect No. 75 and prospect No. 125, though there will be a wide range of opinions on that value, if that makes any sense.

I just realized that 4 of my 5 top 100 prospects I acquired in trades last year when I realized I wasn't in contention and started trading for the future. And the fifth (Brackman) I picked up on waivers when somebody else in the league released him.

It would be nice if the Cubs could rebuild a farm system that quickly. :D

and good luck to all of you in the 2009 best farm system contest. always a fun debate to have while the grownups are playing for the championship.

I will contend and.. I've got 7 of the top 100.

By the way, I've had about 10 more of them that I've used in trades over the last couple years.
