I'm going to a wedding in Boston this summer and am going to try to hit up a weeknight game at Fenway, although I just realized their tickets already went on sale. All I can pull up as best available are seats that say "obstructed view". I'm guessing these would be similar to the 200 level seats in wrigley where there might be a big pole in your way (looks that way at least from seatdata). I was wondering if anyones been to Fenway and where they suggest to sit. I may end up going the craigslist or subhub route because, it isn't every day I get to go to Boston. If anyone has any help, it'd be much appreciated.

From my memory there aren't really too many "bad seats" at Fenway unless you are behind a pole. The seats are cramped as hell and don't angle towards the field though for the most part.

I think this is it. I had pretty decent seats along the first baseline. But I'm 5'7" and couldn't put my legs together without hitting my knees on the seat in front of me and my seat faced CF, so by the 4th inning or so, my body was really tired of sitting at an angle.

I was in Boston last April and went to Red Sox/Yankees Sunday night game. I actually bought tickets on the street about 2 hours b4 the game for only $60. They were pretty good seats...in the right field grandstands. I took the T (public transportation subway) to and from the game and it was only a $6 round-trip. If you go that route, keep in mind it stops running around 11:30 pm. Be sure to get to the game early, the pre-game atmosphere is a lot of fun!

^ I agree the pregames are fun there, and a large part is because of the Yawkey Way experience. I really hope they build the triangle building at Wrigley and do something similar.

Right now the bars are the pregame spots, and I doubt that would change with the triangle building. The people who want to get hammered will still get hammered. But for those that want to go for the baseball, being able to get there early, enter the area thats blocked off to non-ticket holders and going to the shops and buying food from food stands would be pretty fun. You can also incorporate some of the new age ballpark features like a Kids zone and batting cages or whatever without defiling the actual ballpark.

I went to Fenway two years ago and had seats in the middle of section 42, out in right field. They weren't bad. I liked the atmosphere around the park, while to me it's not as cool as Wrigley, it is still one of the best pre-game atmospheres in the league.

I liked the historical aspect of Fenway, but overall thought it was a dump. The concourses are more narrow than Wrigley's with low overheads too. As previously mentioned the seats are really cramped. I'm 6' 180 lbs and it was a tight squeeze for me. I wouldn't do an obstructed view if that's all that is available.

Yawkey Way was awesome. There's no denying that it would be a great addition to Wrigley if and when the Triangle Building goes up.

One last tip, stay away from Fenway Franks. If you're used to Vienna Beef hots dogs, Fenway Franks will taste awful. That, and the bun is a slice of Texas toast.

Been lucky enough to have been born and raised in Boston and to Fenway many a time. Luckily last year I was able to get in for free ;) when the A's played up there but what it an experience it is. It all starts hours before game time in the local "local watering holes" around fenway. If you get there early enough they actually have a new bar inside the CF wall and you can watch BP before the gates open. They actually close down Yawkey way before the game and its all concessions but the best is what they have done the last few years to upgrade the park. They have roof concourses on Left/Right fields with barstools to sit and watch along with other nice spots. As for tickets the Sox implemented a policy that season ticket holders cannot sell tixs to an outside agency. I think it was gate D which does the gameday tixs and you have to get there early but if a season tix holder decides they aren't using the tixs for that night their tix is sold at face value that night. They also escort you into the park after buying your tix so you don't try to scalp it. Also the sox have made the seats wider between both dugouts as yes they were narrow and hope to complete the whole park with the new seats next year. Hope this helps and any other questions please feel fee to ask.
