I think the humorous part about all this is that almost everything Canseco claimed is being proved true. He may have been an attention whore, but he apparently didn't lie nearly as much as everyone wanted us to believe he did.

Am I correct in my thinking that if he's found guilty, he could be deported? Some of you lawyers out there help me out here.

He has a plea arrangement in place. We'll know what the terms of that plea agreement are in the near future.

More names in exchange for leniency?

I'm guessing it was more of a cost/benefit analysis on the everyone's part. Tejada has a lot of money and can hire some really good lawyers. A trial would have been a media circus and could have dragged out in impressive fashion. Tejada could have lost playing time as a result of a trial and could have received some serious penalties if he was found guilty. My gut is that neither side wanted to go to trial and they worked out an arrangement.

Very well could be. Usually the authorities try to get the supplier out of a person that gets pinched, though.

I was at lunch and the bar had on ESPN. From what I gathered Tejada is being charged with lying about whether some dude was using, not that he used.

It's all nonsense anyway.

When is someone going to go after Bud Selig for his knowledge of what was going on under his watch. He had to know and he testified he didn't. He's a god-damn liar just like all the rest.

Ah.

On your second point, Joe Sheehan has a good article on prospectus about the whole thing and one point he made is how a lot of journalists close to the game are up in arms- Joe thinks they are driven by the fact that they ignored this back in the day (how could they not know, if they were as close to the game as they want us to believe, etc.) and are trying to make up for it by blasting the players now.

I blows my mind that Sammy Sosa has somehow stayed out of this. (so far)

For the record, based on nothing other than my gut feel and what I saw, I think he juiced.

Amen, NY.

How is Bud Selig avoiding the heat? Do people REALLY think he had no idea what was going on, or that he wanted it to stop? In my opinion, the "Commish" and the Owners are more to blame than these players. The Players Union as well. It's a big money-making shame.

I have read both of Canseco's books, and even though he is a "slimeball" according to everyone, I don't blame him for writing the book. He was blackballed by MLB, and was not protected by the "Players Union" and was sold out by all of his colleagues.

Of course, the players who used/use PED have to answer for themselves and "pay the piper" eventually - but everything Canseco said in his books is proving to be true, and even though he may be "the Godfather" of steroid use in MLB - all of the players who pumped themselves full of chemicals to solidify their security in MLB and warrant the huge contracts are even more dispicable for acting as if they were clean and selling their soul to PED's.

Makes me sick, and destroys the record books.

Wow. We should start a pool for who we think the next big name that's going to be linked to steroids.

Please please please let it be Pujols

People in glass houses, man. If that 2003 list is ever released, I'd get a bad feeling there would be a number of Cubs on there.

Agreed - but I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I love my cubbies but if any of them cheated, they deserve their fate. I'm a fan of the game before I'm a fan of the player.
