I'm trying to plan my honeymoon towards the end of the summer, and I'm being an extremely generous fiance by including a baseball game for Southpaw19.

The Cubs are visiting Colorado on 8/10. What I'd like to know.... if anyone here is either from there or has gone there before... how difficult is it to get Rockies/Cubs tickets?

Also... if there isn't someone here who could answer, is there a Rockies board out there like NSBB (as in not with mlb.com, etc)?

Thanks!

I went with a group of 12 guys in 2004. We got tickets the day they went on sale and had no problem getting 12 together for 2 games. First game we were in the last row of the lower level between home and 3rd base. Second game we were in the upper level behind home plate. You should be OK getting tickets.

Some tips about the area: stay in downtown Denver at least the day of the game, try and hit some of the mountain stuff outside of the city, the Coors brewery is a nice little side trip, and the brew pub at Coors Field is a good stop before the game. They actually invented Blue Moon there and sold the recipe to Coors. When we were there, they had 2 for 1 beers from the time the gates opened until 15 minutes before the game started. Good times!

I can only speak for the one time we went to Coors Field, which was about five or six years ago -- the game Sammy hit three homers before being lifted in the sixth or seventh inning. We got three tix on game day and sat way in the top deck, just below the purple row of seats indicating the "mile high" point. In spite of that, the sightlines were great! It's a nice park and, unless the Rox are in the thick of the race, you should be able to get tickets without much problem. It's in a bar-ish area like Clark and Addison, so there are places to go before and after the game and taxis to take you to and from your destinations. And Denver's absolutely beautiful. Sounds like you should have a good time.

And congrats!

I live in Denver and go to at least the Cubs games every year. I've done day-of tickets for Rockies/Cubs in the past and they've always been available. The post World Series attendance bump didn't last very long last season and it's rare for there to be a sellout. They do have higher ticket prices for Cubs games though and parking rates are the highest of the season at the lots around the stadium.

Expect more Cubs fans than Rockies fans. There's a bar near the stadium (Blake Street Tavern) that advertises itself as "Wrigley Field West" when the Cubs are in town. That might be a fun stop if you want to have a drink with some fellow Cubs fans before the game or celebrate after.

Be happy to answer any questions or try to help you out any way I can. Hope you have a great trip.

MojoJojo,

I know there are a lot of Chicago transplants in Denver. Are they mostly Cubs fans and, if so, what would you say is the percentage of Sox to Cubs fans there? Back in the winter of 2005, were there a lot of Sox World Series hats and shirts in view. I know that I bought my brother one, and I know his bro-in-law is also a Sox fan. Just wondering.

I live just east of Denver. Go to the Rockies/Cubs game every year. Tickets can be had right before the game very easily. If you're looking for something relatively cheap but with a good view, take the OF pavilion seats. Any other questions?
