Olney says no one is offering much to Fuentes and the Cardinals could have a 3/15-18 deal on the table for him. At that price, should the Cubs get in the bidding? I'm not the guy's biggest fan, but if you get him for 3/$15, that's a decent deal...and you keep him away from the Cards.

I think the reason people aren't chomping at the bit over him is because he's a Type A. He'd be great to have in the bullpen, but I don't think I'd want him if we had to give up two picks for a him. I'd rather keep the picks and look elsewhere to bolster our bullpen Edited by The Logan

One pick.

I thought Type A players cause teams to give up two picks?

I really dont see that deal flying. Besides, now that the Angels are bowing out of the Teixara hunt, dont be surprised if they jump in and make him a much higher offer.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Angels sign both Dunn and Fuentes.

A team who loses a type A player gets 2 picks. One comes from the other team and one comes from MLB.

Ahhhh, so I was partially right. The Rockies will get 2 picks, but only one from whomever signs him? Ya learn something new everyday

Correct, the other is a sandwich (mmm sandwich) between the first and second round.

One Kerry Wood @ $10 mil for 1 year is better than Gregg and Fuentes. Hendry knows this as well which is why all the talk about the uncertainty in the ownership is holding him hostage is likely to be true.

Gregg is a gas can. He walks way too many guys for a reliever. I was not in favor of resigning the overpriced/overhurt Wood either but Gregg will be an irritating bust IMO.

I never said anything about Ceda. He is really irrelevant when it comes to Gregg's gas cannedness. Oh..& Hendry does suck. All he's proven to be is a fat man that can spend a lot of money. He'd be the perfect Yankee GM. What has he done to improve a team that is 0-6 in the postseason the last two years? Our offense is flawed. Even Lou said as much last year when in preseason he talked about the parts not fitting together. Soriano is Sosa revisited in his last contract. Only this time, we won't be as lucky in trying to pawn his contract off on someone else.

Our offense is flawed.

They led the league in runs, were extremely OBP heavy, and the production was spread evenly throughout the lineup. How was it flawed? They just choked, plain and simple. Stop looking for excuses to why they didn't score runs in the playoffs.
