15 and 11 with 4 blocks for Bynum in 24 minutes against the Spurs...for anybody who discredited his last two games because they were against the Clippers and Wizards.

20 board night for DeAndre Jordan

seriously, i'll never figure out how he slipped to the 2nd

There were talks that he'd be in the top 10 at one point...He really didn't go until the second?

Remember how blah he was early last season? He turned it around to have a very nice second half. Now, half a season in, he's basically a top 10 player in the league. Imagine if he keeps progressing at this level for another season or two.

Kobe: 24.3 PER

Durant: 20 PER

I'm not saying PER is the end all of stats, just that I don't think the two aren't nearly as close as you are implying. Durant is good and he's certainly going to get better, but right now he's not on Kobe's level.

Kobe's also playing fewer minutes each night and doesn't have to shoulder the offensive load as much as in years past.

if you did a comparison using KD's SF numbers, things swing in his favor dramatically. your second point sounds like you're arguing in his favor. i'm more impressed with a guy who has to shoulder the offensive burden and only has the option of deferring to stiffs like Robert Swift or Damien Wilkins instead of guys like Gasol or Odom.

By the second point I'm saying that my making the minutes equal, the counting stats and per game averages shift in Kobe's favor because Durant gets more time on the court this year than Kobe does.

And we know what Kobe can do when he has to shoulder the entire burden. He averaged 35.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.5 apg and 1.8 spg in 2005-06 when Smush Parker started all 82 games and played 34 minutes at PG. He also had to deal with Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown and Brian Cook starting at the PF and C spots. The Lakers went 45-37 that year and nearly upset the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Durant has led Oklahoma City to a 9-35 record, worst in the NBA.

EDIT: And I don't know how Durant is regarded as a defender, but Kobe is one of the best in the league. So, at the very least, that's a push and it's likely heavily in Kobe's favor.

Lakers just got sent a blow tonight as Bynum injured his other knee (sprained) it. Left in a wheelchair, and has an MRI tomorrow.

Maybe the Lakers should bubble wrap Bynum whenever they go to Memphis in January.

does memphis have any good players left to give to the lakers?

Rudy Gay is about it.

OJ Mayo. He already had a paid internship in LA.

Not to mention he was injured by his own teammate again. What a bizarre synchronicity. Right now, it's looking like it's not as bad as last year, though.

vince carter hurt his ankle and missed a lot of the 2nd half but the sixers still lost at home to the nets. the reason? they scored 25 points in the second half, including eight in the fourth quarter, and missed their last 18 shots in a row. that's pretty awesome.
